How big is a 6-Slot next to a 4-Slot? I want to buy a 6-Slot, but I'm not sure if it will fit in my cab.

also, is the voltage settings different from the 4-slot?

Looking broadside.
They are 480mm wide, 390 deep and 60 high without a cart. 200mm with carts inserted and some breathing space.
Hope that helps :)

Regarding the supply, the power requirments are much the same for 1,2,4 or 6 slots. The unused slots are switched out and draw no extra current.
So I beleive.

Maybe the residual carts do draw current on idle/standby but dont think so, whatever they do draw would be a piss in the ocean. Anyone with ideas on this. Will have to get the ameter out.

I think they do draw.. I know for sure :)

I have an older psu, when i load up my cab with my 6-slot, the +5v will drop (over time, as the psu heats up) to below 5v and the 6 slot will exhibit reset problems, gfx bugs etc.. This happens 'faster' with big carts (more resistance??) MS2,MS3, ST2 Kof'97/98, PI2 in the pcb, and it will happen in half an hour..

If i wait a day, and put in a 1 slot with ms3, i can run it all day and there is maybe a 0.1 volt drop over the whole day (psu does heat up..) Also standard pcb's run fine..

I think it needs more A than volts. If i up the psu to 5.3 or 5.4 it still ends up dropping after a while, possible the psu cannot supply enough A's to the pcb..

Thanks for your comments, we should do a benchmark test. Those interested please report 5 volt rail amperage. My report will be on your desks tomorrow, would like to put this issue to bed :) zzzzzzzzz

PS dont have a working one slot at the moment but will monitor six slot with zero-6 slots used. Attract and actual game play with spot on 5 volts at the board.

Results will come later, the resistance of my meter and test leads are dropping too much voltage :( ( thats why there are 4 wires to the 5 volts connection obviously ) anyway its drawing exactly 5 amps in this state, but because of the voltage drop, only get garbage gfx so unable to switch carts for the test. Heavy duty leads are called for.

Anyone know what a one slot draws typicaly ???

Didnt realise they drew such a heavy current.

I can't wait until I have these same concerns!

I have an AES at the moment but I'm looking into getting and MVS, perhaps a 6-slot, as soon as I move out if I can afford it. I may even sell my AES and carts to fund it all, I'd only be spending more $$$ on AES carts in the long run anyhow. Especially if I want the Slugs and Garou.

Does anybody know of a good Neo MVS retailer in the UK? Paying $300 shipping from the US sort of puts me off a little.

I've been going through my MVS manual collection to see what I can come up with.

I found a reference to converting a cab by adding a 1 slot or 2 slot board, and the power requirements are:

+5V @ 11 Amps
+12V @ 2 Amps

Also, the MV-1A manual lists power requirements as:
+5V @ 3 Amps
+12V @ 1 Amp

Not sure if that helps any, but there you go.
