. . .and the motion passes UNANIMOUSLY! Thx gents, for weighing in. Tak, with your MD accumen, your input was hoped for.
Well, Advanced Busterhawk Gley Lancer as its called in English borrows a few elements of ThunderForce, which is always a good thing if it's done right. You can collect up to two option pods (called movers) for your ship and select their attack and moving style, (circling around you, homing, backwards, etc.), most movers also have selectable movement patterns that can be changed during play.
The extra weapons get mounted on the option pods. There are 7 different weapons like twin shot, laser, bombs, flamethrowers, etc. The system is quite straight-forward but well thought-out, weapons not only look good but also do good damage.
There are 10+ levels with varying difficulty. Overall, Gley Lancer is one of the less difficult horis, at least during the first five or six levels, later on the action gets a lot more intense, specially on higher diff settings. Playing it on hard is a challenge and a half if you're going for a 1cc, that's for sure. Bosses can be very nasty, too, here, it's important to choose the right weapon, some bosses take ages to kill with one weapon but are a piece of cake with another so if one of them gives you headaches, try it with different pod and weapon combos.
You can adjust your ship speed during the game.
Graphics and sound are very good, IMO GL is one of the best-looking horis on the Genny. I specially like the driving TF-style soundtrack. The intro, cut-scenes between stages and the ending are cool but JPN-only. Thank God all options and on-screen texts are in English.
Great game... hey, I think I'll give it a shot tonight... ...and you should, too!
