Terra Diver is my holy grail. Sucks that I don't have Stv mobo yet. I actually got it for $65 shipped from a guy on Craigslist. I had to jump on that! After I get a mobo for it Im going for a ESPrade board. :buttrock:

I really like my copy of Pulstar. But I must say my grail would be Progear no Arashi. I would never have had the chance to buy it if it wasn't for Tonk. I owe that mother fucker. It's such a good game.

For me, it was Progear, found it on eBay and worked out a deal with the seller. Great game, it was my most wanted SHMUP based on what I saw of it & it being a CPS2 game (I'm a big fan of that hardware). It did not disappoint.

Next one for me on the docket it to get a copy of Ibara, but I'm not in a rush, still enjoying a lot of the stuff I already have.

I would actually say my MVS cart of Aero Fighters 2.

Now, it's not the best or most valuable shooter I own, and I prefer playing the Neo CD version these days, but it was one of the only shooters I liked back in the day. When I finally got it for the Neo, it was a huge "holy shit" moment for me.

I'd like to get Progear at some point but my preferred game would be Esp Ra. De. but I lack the funds at the moment and the fact that I'm trying to save up for a SFIII 3rd Strike kit.

ESPGaluda is the grail for me - I know it's not obscenely rare or anything, but the gameplay and presentation there are top-notch; I doubt any shmup will ever top that for me.

I finally got my Cyvern this week. I've been looking for this for years... I had to get rid of my Mushi to get it, but I'll get another Mushi board soon enough I'm sure.

DownLoad2, PCEngine CDRom^2. The things i had to do to own the hardware to play it made me a man. At 16. Receiving the game (and the circumstances that made it possible) will always be cherished in my heart. Thanks Mom.;)

youre right its all in our little obsessive collector type heads..lol.

Ok, maybe I'm a little extra negative today. I suppose this thread makes me miss my old collection. Faves in my current collection are my Battle Garegga JAMMA board, the Recca re-run my homeys battlesmurf, df, and dubs made up, and a $2 Truxton cart with the Funco sticker still on the back. If I had to choose 1 I'd probably say that shithole Truxton cart still to this day.

Must say though, I love monsters too. The one I like the most is the alien from the movie Alien. It's head is shaped like a dick with a dick in the dick's mouth. Giger so cool.

Thunder Force AC pcb I suppose. Most stuff is possible to get if you're willing to hand over a big wad of cash. But I have never even met anyone that owns one of these...

did you have to do anything swarthy to get it(ie. suck off sweaty used car salesmen for 10.00 a load?)..

You're fucking offensive.

Radiant Silvergun, Hyper Duel, Battle Garegga, Gleylancer, Musha Aleste, Nexzr, Spriggan. I was excited to drop money on these games I guess. They are great games, but I don't melt like a little girl when I play them.

I guess Batsugun is my all time favorite so that is my holy grail/crown jewel (the fact that a saturn port exists is amazing in it's self. I don't own arcade hardware.)

EDIT: What is doing something swarthy? Getting a tan?

Funny, Cyvern was my grail for a long time too. The problem now is you have to find a new grail. ;)

As already mentioned, there are very few games that can't be had if you are willing to spend the money required to get them. When you get something that is rare (like a Cyvern pcb) it's an exciting feeling.
Hunting for pcbs is fun but I think I'm done with my hunting for now. Several shmups were tough to find but patience eventually won out. I guess if I had to choose, a Fixeight pcb was pretty frustrating. It's not all that rare and a lot of people don't care for it, but I had to go through one "dead on arrival" and another scammer sale on ebay, before finally landing one. It made me really appreciate the find though...

Dear OP, can't you think of a better way to start a thread? No one wants to hear about your idea of negotiation; take that shit to the war room/Yugoslavia! And honestly, swarthy?!

It's definitely an exciting feeling to find something rarer. It's exciting getting new pcb's in general, but I've gotten Ketsui and Deathsmiles and others but they're easy to come by even if pricey. Getting Cyvern was a big big deal, on a non-shmup-related vein, Golden Axe: Revenge of the Death Adder is one of the only two brawlers I'm actively seeking and I've gone through 3 DoA and 1 that never got sent.. The day that finds its way to my cabinet is the day I can die happy, lol.

For a new grail.. I'm thinking maybe a Dangun Feveron kit. Yes I used the "k" word, and yes I know how ridiculous that will be to find, lol.
