For me...

GB:

Final Fantasy Legend II - One of the most difficult RPGs I ever finished... and that was '92-'93. Fantastic Uematsu music too, first real "score" for the handheld IMO.

Final Fantasy Adventure - Small wonder that I would love Secret of Mana later :) I asked for "Final Fantasy Legend" for Xmas, my mother got me Legend II, my aunt Adventure. Two great accidents :)

Great Greed - Obscure sleeper RPG classic! Find this and play it now. I got it on a lark in '94-ish after seeing a piece in Nintendo Power on it. It was already in the bargain bin then too, lol.

Fortified Zone - Hmm I think I actually liked the idea of this game more the game, might have to play it again to know for sure. Sort of like NES Metal Gear (base infiltration) meets NES TMNT (character switching).

GBA:

Golden Sun - The reason I bought the GBA SP on its release day. What a game.

GT Advance 3: Pro Concept Racing: A surprisingly complete "Gran Turismo" like racer.

Super Mario Land & Super Mario Land 2

Dragonball Z Legendary Super Warriors was also pretty fun, but not as good as the above two. No idea about GBA games.

OOh Good thread .......
So many to choose from.........

GB/C
Zelda DX/Oracles
Was stuck in hospital for 10 days and borrowed a GBC with Zelda DX on it. Would have gone totally bat-shit mad without it!

Terrifying 911

Best hack ever! Metal Slug on the GBC, with cut scenes featuring Osama and GWB!

GBA
Advance Wars
Just blew me away. I couldn't put it down for months.

Doom
Its Doom for christs sake!

Rock N Roll Racing
Isometric 3D, cars with rockets and landmines, hell yes!

Zelda A Link to the Past
Its the SNES classic, its just a classic!

Pinball of the dead
Completely underated, amazing graphics, great gameplay, totally amazing.

Shining Force - GBA
Metal Walker - GBC

Nostalgia reasons mostly, I played the shit outta Metal Walker in Junior High and I've always liked the Shining Force series before they got retarded

Donkey Kong - recently picked this up and was expecting it to be the arcade game but its a fun puzzle/platform game. It's the earliest place i've seen mario's triple jump and quick reverse jump. very much like Mario vs Donkey Kong for GBA, in fact i would call mario vs donkey kong a sequel.
