Jeff, if you mean the kinda thing you got on the SNES over there, we don't have those over here.
OK, here goes.....
Mega Drive (Genesis) rated 10V 1.2A DC(doesn't actually state AC or DC, but I got a 13.8V DC reading and 30V AC so its DC).
NES/SNES 9V 1.3A AC
Jaguar 9V 1.2A DC
Note none of mine had AC or DC written on them, I found that myself - although the later NES units did state AC.
Now, if the Neo takes 10V 1A, then a 1.2A or 1.3A supply will be safe - its generating enough current for the unit. So we're ok from that point.
All these adaptors have the positive connection on the outside, so again all are OK.
Now, we have to get the AC/DC rating correct. I don't have the original PSU, but the back of my Neo Geo AES says DC IN (why has noone seen that before?). So, we should all be using DC units. In other words, those of you trying Nintendo units, STOP! It may work, but if you want to keep your Neo I'd suggest either getting a proper PSU, or a fixed voltage REGULATED one, or use a Sega unit.
All master system, megadrive/genesis 1, and game gear units should be ok - mega cd/sega cd uses a slightly different unit which still should be ok as long as it gives 1A or more (and is DC).
The Jaguar PSU should still work, despite being only 9V - actually I goto a reading of 12V on mine! But if you have to go for the alternative system option, I'd recommend the Sega units.
Hope this helps <IMG SRC="smilies/wink.gif" border="0">
