If so what do you think of it?
Have to wait long?
Is it worth it?
I got one for my wife, took me 3 hours :oh_no:, but there was alot of folk behind me that would have waited longer :glee:.
Looks cool, i've not much time with it but did play Sonic 2 in the shop whilst waiting and it took me back :)

I got one. Preordered it, arrived yesterday.

I really like it. The display is amazing. Despite the sensationalism journalists out there, reception is better than my 3G. Yeah I can make it drop bars if I hold it juuuust right, but it doesn't appear to affect call quality. And when I tossed it in a slim case even the issue with the bars went away.

So far the battery life seems to have significantly improved as well.

And let's not forget 30fps 720p video camera. The video cam and still footage seems quite good.

That's a huge plus IMO. Battery life on the two I have (2G and 3G) is fucking horrendous

Yeah I agree on the battery life.

It's really a shame that the media has latched onto the the reception issue. I honestly think there's a software glitch that affects how it interprets and displays signal strength.

For example, I was testing this with 3G earlier using one of the free speedtest apps. I was getting 1.5Mb/s up AND down. That's pretty damn great. I could orient it in various ways and drive the speeds down, hold it differently and drive the speeds down, but orientation and location in my house seems MUCH more important than how I hold it. Also performance doesn't seem to correlate to the onscreen signal strength. I'd sometimes get it to show zero bars and still exceed 1Mb/s up and down.

Meanwhile I test my wife's 3G and I cannot get it to outperform the new phone, even when it shows 5 bars for signal.

Oh and did I mention I'm getting 1.5Mb/s up and own from my basement? That's crazy. My old Motorola razor couldn't even complete calls from down here.

Seems like the upgrade from 3G to 3GS to me.

Not worth it if you have a 3GS, 3G - yeah.

To be honest, I wasnt really interested In phones till I got my 3G 2 years ago.
I used mobiles for my work but wasn't into them hugely, then well the 3G was great :). The amount of stuff it did blew me away and I've been an iPhone fan since.

The CPU and screen alone are huge in the 4. HD videocam is great for me, but some won't care. People are getting crazy download and uploads on 3G. It varies by location, but I was getting >3.5Mb/s down last night. It's not far off my DSL.

But the display.. man, never seen anything like it.

I'll need some more time to get a feel for the battery.

I'm not sure about the A4 deal, a teardown has revealed it's a Cortex A8, unless an A4 is just an Apple rebranding of an A8.

The phone is way better than my 3g. If you put a bumper on the phone, it solves he supposed reception problem. Battery life is great, the screen is unbelievable, the front/back camera is neat, and being able to record videos and send them as text messages is a neat feature. I haven't messed with the FaceTime too much, but it looks like a feature that will really catch on once more people have Iphone 4s.

I played with one yesterday - the screen is fucking AMAZING.

Its not enough to get me to switch.

I did side by side "real world" speed tests, and found that its not that much faster than a 3GS.

(Actually, my internet loaded faster)

I really like it though.

I'm sure I'll get one.

I hear its not a big jump from a 3gs to a 4, but that OS4 cripples the Iphone 3g. Actually, the first thing I did once I got mine home was put galuda II on it, I've been wanting to play it since it came out- it doesn't work with the 3g.

Honestly you're probably better off. Any first gen Apple product always has problems. The 3G was something of a reboot of the original iPhone, so ran into some reception issues but the 3GS had more polish to it. The iPhone 4 already has some documented issues that Apple needs to work out (and of course won't admit until the next phone is released), so you're better off getting the iPhone 5 (or 4G or whatever it'll be called) anyway.

Isn't that one of the games that requires a 3GS anyway, regardless of OS due to making use of OpenGL ES 2.0?

Your probably right there, my 3GS is still doing me fine and will do for while yet I guess :)
