I remember when I first saw it in the arcades... It was the first game to use scrolling like that! I thought it was cool, but the scrolling gave me a headache at first because no other fighter up to then did that (it doesn't anymore).

AOF2 and 2 are also fun.

One warning about part two: you can put it on the easiest level and the computer will still cheat and kick your butt.

Yes,get the series!
The first one is a classic, the second is one of my favourites on the neo,and the third one has the best animation together with MOTW.(could be a little bit expensive, though)
Too sad there are only 3 of them...

I've always enjoyed the Art of Fighting series. When you play AOF 2 & 3, they make the graphics on AOF 1 look like crap.
As for what Bobak said about AOF2, he's right. I actually beat AOF3 before AOF2 and I haven't beaten AOF 2 yet! It's a very challenging game and you have to master the computer's AI if you wanna survive. It ain't easy.

Yeah-

AOF1 is cool nostalgia. And it has Todo

AOF2 is hard, but has some great characters and BGS, and is a GREAT value

AOF3 has some of the best fighting game graphics ever, great BGs (A couple of my personal top 10) and a weird control scheme I have grown to enjoy quite a bit. I love AOF3- Robert and Ryo have NEVER looked or moved better.

I love this series now more than ever.

Yeah... the original Art of Fighting was one of the reasons I bought a Neo in the first place!

It still holds a special place in my heart to this day.

I didn't care as much for either 2 or 3, although the main problem I had with 2 was the fact that the CPU was so CHEAP!!!

I only had 3 on CD, so I know I was missing a lot of the great animation that so many rave about. The gameplay was okay - kind of like a 3-D fighter with 2-D graphics (get it, and you'll see what I mean).

Anyway, now that I can get them on MVS, I'll probably hunt down both the 2nd and 3rd one (just got the first one on MVS cart in the mail today )

I remember back in the day where I used to steal money from my parents to sneak out at midnight to go to the bowling alley to play Art of Fighting. I was SO into that game it wasn't funny. Then I moved and wasn't near an arcade for years. I saw AOF2 in the arcade and shit my pants. I played it and was in love all over again. Recently I bought an AES system with AOF2, and I must agree it is pretty cheesy with the AI, but that difficulty makes me want to play it more. I've played the game so much that I'm a master at it, and now am looking for another hard game cause that one got too easy for me Geese is the only hard guy for me, and if it comes down to it, I'll cheeseball him to kick his ass I never played AOF3, and never knew it existed until I found out about the NeoRage emulator a few years ago. The graphics are top notch in every way, but there's something about the gameplay I don't dig. Like almost that it's TOO animated and moves hang for longer than I like.

In the end, the Art of Fighting series is a very solid one, and 2 is my favorite. I just don't like how they changed some of the voices from the Japanese to the English (like King.. in the English version she sounds like she's had a few too many cigarettes).

I remember waiting for AoF to come out. If I remember correctly it was the first game that was over 100meg. The only thing I didn't like is that you had to play 2p mode to fight with the other characters.

Yeah, AOF was probably the first game I ever played on the Neo Geo, and is also the first cart I bought for my MVS... its far from the best 2d fighter now, but its still a great series and will always hold a special place in my heart

I don't know if you guys didn't want to be rude or spoil the magic, or anything, but AOF2's CPU could be destroyed with a very cheap, simple, and stupid pattern. Choose a character with qcf+A/B "ki" power (Ryo's Kooh Ken or Eiji's Kikou Ho will work just fine). At the start of a match, dash up to the opponent and throw them. Then, right as they get up, do your qcf+A/B special (the CPU won't block it), which will dizzy. Keep doing this pattern to redizzy and you'll be fighting young Geese in no time.
