Hoping to get some opinions

Could the people who have played the games rank them? Having only really played Progear CPS2 and Espgaluda 2 on my iPhone I don't really know where I want to go next, hoping this would help me and others.. thanks!!

While I havn't played every single Cave shooter, I have played many of them. I think 12 or so. Of course, this is all opinion. The difficulty list is pretty hard to decide...I guess I'll go by bullet patterns, hit box, how many stages, how hard to 1cc etc.

Difficulty (at default settings I guess)
1. DoDonPachi DaiOuJou
2. Ibara (I personally found Ibara extremely fucking difficult and unforgiving)
3. Ketsui
4. Espgaluda series
5. Progear No Arashi

Fun
1. Mushihimesama Futari
2. DeathSmiles
3. DoDonPachi DaiOuJou
4. Ketsui
5. Progear No Arashi

Value for Money
1. DeathSmiles (US release will come with Black Label)

Sadly, I can't give an opinion on DDP DFK, PinkSweets, or Muchi Muchi Pork :crying:

Not sure I want to get into Mame, but I suppose a try before you buy approach is generally smart.

I'm not good with objective lists- luckily, others whom opinions i respect have chimed in. I will say, subjectively, that mushihimesama futari for 360 hits the sweet spot for me. Region free, black label avail from xbl, a multitude of game modes, and impecable fit and finish. It has been a *long* time since a game has grabbed me this tight, and refused to let go.

I'd say a good place to start is on an XBOX 360. (Depending which Cave shooters you want to play) So far the following have been released or announced if your not familiar. Cave game wise, Mushi Futari and DeathSmiles alone are definitely worth buying the system for.

DeathSmiles (NTSC-J. US version is dated June 29 as of today)
DeathSmiles IIX (NTSC-J)
DoDonPachi DaiOuJou Black Label X (NTSC-J)
ESPGALUDA2 (Region free)
Ketsui (NTSC-J)
Mushihimesama Futari (Region free)
Guwange (Summer 2010, I think. I'm sure any region can download it.)

I don't think I missed anything.

And then of course you have all the other shmups that have been out. Raiden Fighters Aces, Raystorm HD, Otomedius and so on.

yeah, well aware of the JP 360 releases, but generally would prefer to keep this to playing on a cab on PCB. Don't need to get a full collection or anything but have found the guidance and opinions so far to be very helpful.

Also didn't realize that the US Deathsmiles was so close to release, nice.

I'm not well-versed in Cave like many here... just got my introduction recently. Of what I've played, here are my thoughts:

3. Deathsmiles (probably would rank higher, I just didn't get enough of a chance to play it)

1. Progear Bootleg (probably the only way to find this for a reasonable price is a boot/Phoenix version. Maybe the only way to find it period.)

That's true, that game was rediculous hard, what with having to grab the falling people (iirc) that game IS obscenely hard.

The question wasn't serious....but yeah the Yagawa games do. Obviously I don't play them much, otherwise that would have came to mind...and I wouldn't have made that lame joke.
