I have just bought a Jap Neo Geo with standard AV lead output. My TV is NTSC compatible but displays the games in black and white! Is this normal. And will getting a scart lead for my Neo Geo solve the problem!

Yes, as far as I know if you use a scart RGB lead (doesn't need to be the official one) you'll get color. Your TV needs to be NTSC/60Hz compatible anyway.

if your tv was ntsc compatible, the pic would be in color.
my guess is that your tv is 60 hz compatible, but not ntsc.

Well, my TV is really NTSC/60 Hz compatible and if I used my PSX through regular A/V the pic was perfect but in b/w. I solved that via RGB scart lead. That's why I guessed it was the same with Neo.
I still think you'll solve the problem with the RGB scart lead.

Hi,

Well, the fact is that some TVs, like my Sony are NTSC/60Hz compatible but not trough all their outputs, normally only trough one or two, and these one’s use to be one of the RGB 21-PIN outputs (normally all TVs use to have at least two) and the S-VHS output, not the AV output. Check your TV instructions manual. Now a days all the modern TVs use to have all their RGB outputs NTSC/60Hz compatible.

Bye
