MVS Sound Problem

I just picked up a MV-1FZ board and I'm having some problems with the sound.

When I first fired the board up with MOTW it kept reseting. I switched everything off and gave the jamma connector a good clean (it was VERY dirty). Once I'd done that the game loaded fine. Now onto my problems

1) I get no sound in game intro's. I've gone into the soft dip setting and checked that the demo sound is on, but still nothing. The sound works in game and I've tried several games so I know it's not the carts.

2) I seem to be getting a bit of static noise with the in game sound. I gave the jamma connector a second really good clean and it seemed to help a little bit. Is it worth cleaning the cart slots on the board? Or is the problem something else?

as for 1), I think there's also an option in "setting up the cabinet" that decides wether intro sound is always off on all games, or can be turned on in the game's soft dips.

Thanks Arakon that sorted out the problem with the demo sound.

Can anyone help with the second problem though? I was playing MS2 last night (used cart) and the sound was fine. Yet when I plugged in Zupapa (brand new) I got the sound problems again. Would my Zupapa cart benifit from a clean even though it's new?
