my t.v. has some type of problem, only when you play videogames it seems. There is a black space about 2 to 3 inches on the left side of the screen whenever something is being payed no matter what system, which input, or what game. Does anyone know how this can be solved? I can't return it because it was a gift. it's great as a t.v. but just a bit off for games

I have a toshiba, an dI have a similar problem - the geometry is off, and I know I need to enter service mode to fix it. So I called Toshiba and asked them how to do it for my model and they said they can only give that information to licensed repairmen. WHAT BS.

Anyhow, look up "toshiba tv service mode" and yu'll find out how to do it for some tvs. It didn't work for my tv as it's older, I guess.

Try this:

Turn your TV on.

Press MUTE on your remote and release.

Press down MUTE on your remote again and hold. While holding, press the MENU button on your TV set's front panel. Release both buttons.

An "S" should appear on your screen. Press MENU again on your TV.

Now you're in service mode.

Make sure to write down any default settings, that way you don't mess everything up. I have a 24 inch toshiba, but it doesn't have a menu button on the front. So i can't enter service mode.

I have a Toshiba 36 inch Cinema Series set and I used the service menu several months back to adjust the picture on it.

Be VERY careful of what you adjust. You can easily fuck the picture up and powering the tv off and back on or unplugging it will NOT reset it to defaults.

Me neither, and I think you saw personally that I NEED to enter service mode. My model number is CF3266A... And the fucking internet is USELESS!!!!

toshiba has a few different service modes.

i have a 20" flat screen.

what i have to do is put the volume all the way down, but not mute

then hold volume down on the tv and 9 on the remote. viola service mode.

I'll give that a shot. Thanks.

However, I doubt it would work because my Toshiba is about 10 years old.

Kabuki Klash with no lifebar, very interesting.

The pitcture on my TV fits great bottom to top, but some data is lost on the left and right side. Not enough so it's a problem.

That actually worked. Some strange yellow menu popped up, can you give me the details on the settings so I don't fuck up the tv?

i cant really help on details, since theyre kinda different, just read what they say.

my friend has the same tv, but his menu has different/more options, and a different looking OSD than mine, newer version i gueess. so things change :/

just try em out, theres this one option that makes like a fish bowl effect, its fuckin trippy with sonic 3d blast (i used that to fix geometry issues, since its got the grided levels, and you can move around and stuff, pluis i like the game.)

Yeah, I saw those. I think there are other settings for the intensity of each RGB gun, Minimum-Max brightness, contrast, RF something. I'll just stick with the horizontal, vertical controls

thanks guys I fixed it. first I made it fit the whole screen, then I later heard from the guy that the picture still isn't fitting perfectly, so I went back again and fixed the trap, hpos, vpos, wid, hit. yes these are the sevice menu abbrevisations for designer mode. My tv, is pretty new but I don't think it makes me any better because I didn't buy it myself and it's not digital. on a side note in designer mode alone it had about 300 different things that could be adjusted. It took about 45 minutes to write them all down. I didn't fiddle with anything theat I couldn't figure out first. I had to tilt the image afterwards in the normal thing. now I have the urge to play videogames in the living room once again instead of a commadore monitor. Thanks everyone. oh yeah and I adjusted it 3 times total. I tweaked it to perfection after the 2nd. now it's absolutely stunning.
