ok... so I've been googlin.. these are the best prices I've found:

"http://www.computerbase.co.uk/descriptions/cabldesc1.htm#Joystick exte"
" <a href="http://www.revealcable.co.uk/Large/1100/aa_1182.htm" target="_blank">http://www.revealcable.co.uk/Large/1100/aa_1182.htm</a> "
" <a href="http://www.bixnet.com/6joyexcab.html" target="_blank">http://www.bixnet.com/6joyexcab.html</a> "

four quid is a jolly good price, but will they fit in my MV-1F? Which to get?

edit addition:

" <a href="http://www.computersurplusoutlet.com/viewproduct.asp?ProductID=ACC-JOYEXT" target="_blank">http://www.computersurplusoutlet.com/viewproduct.asp?ProductID=ACC-JOYEXT</a> "

the problem is that you can`t tell from a picture if they are deep enough and that sucks.
Maybe someone already ordered some from one of your links??

I`m also looking for some good connectors more locally though, will check tomorrow at work if we can order some as we have a supplier that supplies the belkin cables that from what I`ve heard are deep enough.

If the price is right I might get some for you really cheap. I`ll keep you posted if you like

Personally I know <a href="http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=1&Product_Id=42568" target="_blank">these</a> joystick extensions are pretty sweet. The don't always stay easily in the system, but with some minor edits to the plastic, you can get it to fit pretty well.

I picked up 3 of these for about $4-$5 apiece after shipping. Not sure where to get them outside the US though.. sorry.

For the price, you may want to buy 1, check it out and if it works for your needs, buy more as needed?

Even if the cable doesn't fit in your Neo, if it's made of rubber/plastic you can "circumcidate" it a bit so it satisfies your Neo. I buy cables like this in an electronics store in Barcelona for around 5.5 euro. Kernow posted some pics I sent him.

Kernow's pic:

My pic:

Left-Right:

1. Unsuitable for Neo due to metal
2. Uncircumcidated
3. Circumcidated
4. Official

You have them hooked up all at once?
Cause I was thinking on making one connector on the joystick itself and making custom cables for each console.

I don't know what are you talking about... Each of that wires go to a different controller.

Check some of them:

I also contructed an adaptor from DB-15 to PSX, and from them I have commercial adaptors to PC, etc.

How did you do that? I`m thinking of making something similar and thought that I would just cut open a psx controller desolder the wires and hook the loose wires up to a db15.
To me that looked like the easiest way to do it.

No, only one of the cables comes from the box (actually my ghetto cardboard stick :p ), the other 3 are from 3 other different controllers, I just used the box to keep the cables fixed while doing the pic.

About the DB-15 to PSX adaptor I just used the PCB from a twin arcade stick for PSX, that already had wires there.

I also use the Belkin 6ft joystick extension cables. The connecter is about 1/8 inch shorter than the official Neo Geo plug. Here's a photo directly comparing the two:

<img src="http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-7/306433/neo_vs_standard_db15_2.JPG" alt=" - " />

They work perfectly with the extension cables Shawn had in the Neo Store (what I use them with). They work directly as well but maybe a bit loose and prone too falling out depending upon how much wear your Neo has on the joystick ports.

I have used these cables in the former RedOctane PS2 sticks I redesigned for the Neo and the cheap SNES pads I rewired:

Those are some hot looking joypads!
Are the schematics how to build those anywhere to be found??

Not at present unfortunately.

The solid overall design of the joystick case itself comes directly from the joysticks which RedOctane sells. I used the cheap models becasue I completely filled in the existing buttons and redrilled nearly all the holes:
<a href="http://www.redoctane.com/joystick-capcom.html" target="_blank">http://www.redoctane.com/joystick-capcom.html</a>
<a href="http://www.redoctane.com/joystick-soulps2.html" target="_blank">http://www.redoctane.com/joystick-soulps2.html</a>

You could almost use the Soul Calibur 2 joystick they make directly just replacing the buttons and joysticks and wiring it for the neo. But I personaly tend to despise the low A straight BCD button layout commonly found on Neos. I like the less common arc seen on the old style joysticks and some dedicated Neo machines.

The button layout is based upon a template I created from a dedicated 4 slot overlay with one of those arc type button layouts.

The sticks were primed and repainted black semi-gloss. The overlay is made of red vinyl with some official Neo Geo stickers and some generic Neo Geo pannel sticks. Lastly new arcylic was cut and drilled to match the button layout.

<img src="http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-7/306433/AES_arcade_controllers_1.JPG" alt=" - " />

I'll see about getting some templates made for interested parties.

Almost forgot. I removed the cruddy plastic trim on the joysticks and used real 7/8 inch T molding. I didn't cut a channel to mount it and instead cut off the tab on the back and nailed it in place using some nice finishing nails. The shiny heads were then painted black enamel semi-gloss. A little industrial, but still looks pretty damn nice.

Well they just look great, definately something that I will consider with my next design.

I`ve seen a few custom sticks now since I started building mine and this kind of model with the top sticking a bit out at the front really looks nice.

For a custom job I say you did a very good job!

Very subtle btw that bag of "sticks" in the picture :p
