Someone told me.....

I have an MK board. The High-Punch, High-Kick, and Block are on the normal JAMMA edge. The Low-Punch and Low-Kick are on the JAMMA+ "kick harness."

If this is true why cant I pull off any special moves on Mortal Kombat using my Neo Pad on my mini supergun. If the high punch/high kick buttons can be used without a kick harness, special moves should be able to work. Can it be due to the special moves being turned off on the jamma board? and yes it is a boot (small and compact with full sound). Its a shame because this is the main reason I wanted a supergun, just to play MK arcade perfect.

I doubt they were turned off, but check the setup menu (use the test button).

It's impossible to turn off the special moves. If your high punch, block, and high kick buttons work by themselves, make sure you are doing moves that use those buttons.

I think in the first Mortal Kombat, very few special moves were done with high punk/kick. I know Liu Kang's are. Not Sub-Zero. Scorpion's teleport does. Not Sonja (maybe her air attack). Not Raiden. Not Johnny Cage (I think). And not Kano.

Are you sure you're not just trying to do special moves with high kick/punch when they require the low attacks?

Can some please help me to explain how I can open up my minigun purchased from uberia and attach the low punch button to the Neo Geo 15 pin joystick port so I can use the D pad button as low punch. At the moment I can use high punch, low kick, block and also the start button so in a way everything is almost correct. All I want is to be able to use the low punch button so I can pull the special moves. I really need a basic layout because I have never been good at electronics. I assume their are some wires in the minigun that have not been connected and used.

Thanks

There's a rather easy solution in my post.

From your post it looks like you have few idea about how to deal with it, so I wouldn't open your gun and mess with it, you could damage it. Can't you have it sent back to Uberia to have it adapted?

You guessed it! I don't have a clue what to do in terms of electronics. I wish I could do it myself, or learn very carefully. In a way it does not sound too hard to do, attach a wire here and there. I someone could try and give my instructions I could have a go myself. My mini gun does not have kick harness attachment. The mini gun is very small with only the jamma connector, on/off switch, green light, and 2 small round connectors.

1)Open it,

2)find low punch wire,

3)Attach it to one of the 15 ports (make sure it links in with the D pad button) and hey presto!

Am I on the right lines here?........

NO, YOU ARE NOT.

Again: have you read my post in the other thread? Just connecting another wire INSIDE the supergun is not enough.

You have two options: running a wire from the controller port in the gun to some connector mounted in the external part of the case, and another wire from there to the place in the board where the kick harness need to be attached; OR, just run a wire from the JAMMA pin in the board where the D button is attached on MVS (pin 25) to to the place in the board where the kick harness need to be attached.

The second solution is easier would you would have to do the same for each board.

Thanks for all your help Amano Jacu. Its still really hard to understand. If I had a digital camera I would take pictures of everything so you can explain it more clearly to me. With the second solution, I need a bit more detail.

''OR, just run a wire from the JAMMA pin? in the board where the D button is attached on MVS (pin 25)? to to the place in the board where the kick harness needs to be attached?''.

Oh well, if I was in Barcelona I could make you some pics and explain with more detail, it's hard to explain all that with words in a foreign language for me.

Please take your time to read this explanation:

<a href="http://www.dameon.net/BBBB/plus.html" target="_blank">http://www.dameon.net/BBBB/plus.html</a>

Somewhere in your MK board there's a 12 pin connector that should "look" like this:

<img src="http://www.dameon.net/BBBB/mklyot.jpg" alt=" - " />

Low punch for player 1 corresponds to pin 4 on that 12 pin connector. Then your board has the regular JAMMA connector. Well, if you run a wire from that pin 4 to pin 25 in the JAMMA connector, then the D button in your 1 player pad will work as Low Punch. The same goes for the equivalent pins for 2 player.

Make this experiment if you want: while playing, make a momentary contact (for example take a wire peeled in both ends and with one end in each of your hands make them touch the pins) between pins 1 and 4 in the extra 12 pin connector. Then the low punch will be triggered. It's because whenever pin 4 gets in contact with any ground, the button is triggered. While running that wire from pin 4 to pin 25 JAMMA you make the D button work as switch to make that pin 4 contact with ground or not.

I hope this helps.

finally your help has made me understand what to do. Just one quick question, do you know where I can get a wire to attach it from the kick harness (pin 4) of the pcb to pin 25 in the jamma connector? Does it have to be a special wire for jamma boards? Do all kick harness pins have 12 connectors, I think mine only has 10?
You don't need a special wire at all, any type of wire of the correct size will work, you can buy it in any electronics store.

About the number of connectors, well... According to that manual scan the MK board kick harness should have 12 pins, it's strange yours has only 10, maybe it's a bootleg? You should make sure what the pin-out (i.e. what button corresponds to each pin) is, just make contact between any ground and the pins and look at the screen what happens (i.e. which button is pressed). Is there a controller test option in your board? It would help.

Thanks for all your help it finally has worked. I just used a wire from a old sega gamegear adaptor. I cut a small piece, pulled off the plastic from each end and I connected it from pin 25 on the jamma connector on the board to pin number 2 on the kick harness. I know can pull of all the special moves. Again thank you very much.

And this is my 100th post!
