Söldner-X 2: Final Prototype trailer (PSN)

Shmup fans have something to look forward to next month on the PlayStation Network. Eastasiasoft has announced that that's when Söldner-X 2: Final Prototype hits the Sony download service.



Söldner-X 2: Final Prototype is the sequel to 2008's Söldner-X: Himmelsstürmer. Aside from the easier-to-pronounce name, the sequel also features HD graphics, lots of bullets flying around, giant bosses, a new chaining system, and online high scores. Basically, an old-school 2D sidescrolling shooter with a highly polished sheen.



There's no exact date yet and neither is there a price tag, but the devs did release this launch trailer to give you an idea of what to expect.

How can anyone pass up another shmup with a giant head boss? I'm sold!

The LE version of the original is already being discounted heavily ($10 in P-A). I wonder how well they're selling with the sequel.

I might check it out this time around.

Hmm, it looks like they may have gotten it right this time. The first game had a good soundtrack and decent gameplay.....but it just felt too European. It didn't feel like a legitimate shooter.

This seems more intense and Gradius like.

If it's $10 or less on the PSN I'll get it for sure.

yeah don't really like the first one aside from graphics and music but I am slowly getting hyped for this. Which is coming on the 25th of this month

I'm trying this game...it's not so bad...it's nice
I hate the digital delivering....but i've tried...and it's not bad

I really enjoy the game myself. Very euroshmupp-y, but still very enjoyable. The real challenge isn't necessarily surviving (espcially considering how much health you have), but being able to maintain a good rank and score well.

Love me some Söldner-X. Only gripes i have with the sequel is the boring visuals.

The hand drawn sharp backgrounds and all was so much better in the first game
