Nope, don't have an iphone. Might get one in June when the new ones come out.

The game looks nice. Hope it plays well too.

This came out today, anyone pick it up yet?

I picked it up. I was actually skeptical about the ability to dodge some of the more severe bullet patterns with the touch screen controls. I also was worried about the iPhones ability to run this game at a decent speed. I was pleasantly surprised with the results.I have only attempted to play this 1 time. I made it to the 4th stage with a score of 9,099,380.

I just got my iPhone this past Wednesday and this is the very first app I bought for it. $4.99 is well worth the price paid for this game. Who ever would have thought you could play a Cave shooter on a phone. I hope they make this for those with the Android based phones also. Maybe if these get to be somewhat successful we will see future SHMUPS ported over for phone use.

Phillip

*** This game also has acheivements similar to the XBOX 360.

Also, dont know if this will make a difference to any of you. This game runs through something called Open Feint. I'm new to the iPhone so I dont know if this is normal for all games. Finally, forgot to mention this game is 20MBs so when you go to buy it a message will come up saying to either purchase through iTunes or to connect to a Wi-Fi hot spot to download the game. Through my Wi-Fi setup it took about a minute to download it.

I wish this was real:

http://www.thinkgeek.com/stuff/41/iCade.shtml?icpg=Carousel_iCade_1

... and compatible with i(phone/touch/pad) Espgaluda II
... and Cave starts pumping out more ports on the Apple platform

... since I'm in wish mode, maybe instead of that tabletop... make a japanese arcade machine style one. Then also have a full speed flawless MAME port compatible with the enclosure. Would be a cool little toy on the desk at work.

This is the first phone game in the states, or cave game at all for the most part. They've been making phone games in Japan for almost a decade. I had a flyer showing a Donpachi game with a level like a pinball table. I think it came with the ketsui kit if I remember right so probably around 2002 or so.

Open Feint just adds score tracking and achievments. I see on the site that 32 and 64GB iPod touch's error out when installing.

I bought a 3GS today so I could play this.

(Time to upgrade my phone anyway)

I cant believe how well it plays - its like it was made for the iPhone.

Its just a great port... VERY PLAYABLE.

I actually downloaded it over the WiFi at the Apple Store...

Lots of different modes for different players.

Normal on Expert is an EXACT replica of the PCB version.

Oh man, if they release Deathsmiles...

from what I read at the Cave-STG website, I believe Futari has been confirmed as the next release.

The 360 port (ESPGaluda II Black Label) is a Japan-only release, however, the regular edition of the game is region free and will run on any region 360. The limited edition release (which includes a faceplate) is region locked to Japan.

Black label mode is heaps easier than Arcade or 360 mode.

Finally got around to installing it on the iPad today. Wow, pretty slick... though I'll probably mostly play it on the phone. I hope Cave makes some coin on this release so that they green light more ports. Sure is nice to play some Cave on a device you usually have in your pocket (your phone). Makes those waits at the car wash a little more bearable. :lolz:

"This app requires OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics capability" so its not limited by the cpu per say , just 3D libraries and shaders?

I tried buying it for my OG iphone , not to play just to have the game for whenever i find a 3gs but got the message above. any clue as to the normal price on this is?

I think they pulled it due to the ipod issues. Can't seem to find it- even by following the app store link in the OP. Hopefully those late to the party can still get it for 5 bucks :/

Looks like this was made for the iPad.

I have a first gen touch, so I'm SOL.

still not showing up for me. :annoyed:

edit- for some reason i can follow the link from my pc, but not from the ipod directly. search still yields no results as well. its listed at $8.99- hopefully they'll extend the sale price considering the circumstances.

So I went ahead and purchased it yesterday. I have to say, I am impressed at how well this works on the iPhone. Here's to hoping Cave releases more of their shmups on the platform.. Absolutely no shmup that was already on the platform--and I mean nothing--can compete with the look and precision of Espgaluda II.
