About a month ago, it looked like the prospects of an official KoF 2001 home cart were very good. With the recent turn of events for SNK, this doesn't seem so likely however. What does everyone think of this matter?

I don't believe in an AES release of KoF2k1, although I'd guess it would be no problem to find people who'd buy 2k1 on home cart (I know I would).

It's a very sad turn of events. I don't see an "official" AES release in the cards, but perhaps somebody might be interested in taking matters into their own hands?

Maybe if we all write Eolith an e-mail we can get this going. A kof not being released on home cart is just unatural.

Well... if there's a possibility of a new AES release you can bet on King of Fighters 2001... it's without a doubt (with Metal Slug) the best-known SNK franchise... it's just a matter of: 'More AES or no?!?'

If there isn't going to be an AES for KOF 2001, one word comes to mind: conversion.

And when you say that, one word comes to my mind: expensive. It eill be a long time before the mVS carts are even below $300. Tyen you have to add in conversion costs and sac carts. But I'm sure NGF will have an "official NGF" KoF2001 cart for sale here pretty soon for $1500 or so

Every company likes to make money (although sometimes when remembering certain SNK actions I`m not so sure about this any more, hehe): So do Eolith and Aruze. It would be foolish to pass on one of the biggest franchises on Homecart. Sure it would not make sense to try to push 10.000 like with KoF 2000 (reason for the quick price decrease of this cart) but a healthy 2.000 to 4.000 I think would sell very well. So why not make the extra buck (yen)? I`m confident!

About a mounth ago I wrote an e-mail to Eolith asking if there would be an AES release of KoF2001 and if KoF2002 would be released using MVS technology, but I had no answer...
Maybe all we should begin to send them e-mails until they answer us

hey kyokugen it would have been nice if there is actually price drop of KoF2000 but there isn't tho. maybe I'm looking in all the wrong places but I'm finding these at $350-$400 range still. sux really considering Buy-Rite had sold KoF2000 AES for measly $245.00 which was early this year i believe.

i however, am confident that Eolith will release KoF2001 as AES. I would bet my arm on it. well i'm crossing my fingers anyways, hhehehh...

Being the pessimistic fuck I am, I don't think there'll be a KoF2001 home version .
But I'd love to be proven wrong...

Did someone say petition? As if game companies ever listend to petitions.

Hey Kyo, don't you think that the profit margin they'll make is to small compared to the cost of producing the boards, chips, boxes, artworks and stuff? I mean, I honestly don't know - but I could imagine that producing 2000 carts just doesn't drop off enough dough for them to consider making a KoF 2001 AES... (???)

Btw I doubt that SNK made alot of profit with Garou...
