I got a new monitor for one of my candy cabs. The monitor has a three prong plug, but the cab has a two prong outlet. I'm sure the best solution is to splice into the plug and ground it elsewhere, but where. Is the power supply my best bet?

Does the cab itself have an earthing connection from the mains input, if so use the same terminal.

Replace the outlet in the cab. I know you Americans dont realise this, but earthing something can be the difference between life and death.

If the cab only has a 2 prong mains plug, replace that too.

What I have done with my candy cabs that have a two pronged plug was I picked up some decent gauged wire, connectors, and nice plastic 3 pronged plug ends. I made sure everything on my cab was going to the earth ground correctly. I cut and stripped both ends of the wire, placed a u shape on one end of the wire and connected the other end to the 3rd ground prong on the plug. Connected the u shaped end to the earth ground and plug in the other end into my power supply.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but couldn't you then, connect earth to earth ground from multiple cabs and then have the one grounded plug end plugging into the power supply?

For the monitor, I believe you could connect a molex connector and have it running off of the power from the power supply.

The cab already has a three prong plug for power. I just earthed the monitor to it. I just wanted to make sure it's 100% safe before I did it. No issues so far. Thanks!
