Metal Slug X Broken Cart Syndrome

A lot of times I get a work ram error on an FZ when trying to play MSX and other times I just get a constant clicking like it's stuck in watchdog.

No broken traces, everything is clean as can be. I also verified the P roms against the MAME dumps and everything checks out.

On an FZ(UB2.3) I get the clicking or a work ram error, on a 1C(Unmodded) I get a crosshatch.

BTW I have 3 copies of this game and 2 dont work and do the same thing.

Doesn't Metal Slug X use a one-of-a-kind PCB or something like that? Could that be related?

Oddball question, what region are all of the carts and what is the unibios set to?

The non Unibios ones are JP and the UB ones are Euro.

You got a US BIOS laying around anywhere? I have one US and one JP BIOS and my MSX is a US copy. It does NOT work if I'm using the JP BIOS (I moved it to my 1slot since it's rarely used.)

Refresh my memory on what code on the bios is Euro, Spanish, JP and USA. I can't remember which is which.

I have 2 mv1-fzs and have no trouble playing metal slug X. Never seen the issue you are getting on any of my carts. Weird.

Edit: I have gotten the crosshatch a few times, but thats usually due to the cart not being seated correctly.
