Hi guys,
I have a MVS cart that has been giving me some problems. The game plays and looks completely fine...except for the options menu. For some reason, the text is really garbled there. But other than that, everything plays a-ok.

the person I bought it from assures me the game is legit, and it looks that way as well. I've never opened up the game as I am really bad at doing that and don't want to tear the sticker or anything.

Any idea what could be causing the garbled text in the options menu? One key thing to note is that I do not have an MVS system and never tested the game on one. I play this using a super converter 2 on a homecart system. Could that be the problem? Or is there something else wrong with the game causing the game? Anyone else experience a similar problem?

many thanks

Is all the text in other parts of the game perfectly fine? If so it could just be a converter issue. Can you take some pics of it?

I cant say for 100% certain, but i believe the rest of the text is ok.
I'm going to try and take some pics tonight or tomorrow.

MVS carts are made before their AES counterparts, so sometimes the text they use are not recognized on the AES. This is not limited to KOF 2001, but many of metal slugs, when played on the AES via a converter, the texts in the options menu not recognized will look like nonsense. It is completely normal.

many thanks, that is good to know. I noticed this problem quite awhile ago, but it didnt really bother me as I don't really change the options, so I didn't really care and kind of forgot about it.

But I wanted to sell it now and wasn't sure what exactly was the problem, or if there was one even. I mean, I will still mention the issue when selling it, in case whoever buys it plays it on a home system as well, but its nice to know that it is not busted or a boot.

thanks for the all the info.

oh I'll still post pics later on just in case anyone is interested in seeing what exactly I am talking about.
