That's not true. Where did you read that? A 1-slot needs +12V, +5V and GND.

Check www.hardmvs.com for more info and download the manuals for most MVS boards.

The +12 volts runs the sound analog and amplifier and some final sound circuitry and is NOT required for the rest of the Neo Geo to operate. this means you can run +5 volts only, but won't have any sound.

In other words.... in a cab you need 12V, in a supergun you shouldn't need it.

Err, don't MVS boards require -5V in a cab too? Pretty sure this is unnecessary in sg though ;)

So sound is a superfluous thing to you...

err no... but we're talking about a SUPERGUN. Superguns output to tv. Now unless you live in a backwards country, all TVs capable of taking in a RGB or S-VID signal ALSO have speakers... and amps! Hence NO amp is needed - all you do is feed the unamplified signal out, doi! Just like a PC ;) or a seperates CD player, tape player, tuner.......

Secondly, a lot of gamers realise that your TV has shite sound, and a hi-fi has a better amp than either, so you'd benefit more from going into a hi-fi.

Well, wiring stereo boards (like a MVS multislot) seems pretty easy, either via two RCA jacks (like in JHendrix's supergun) or via the relevant pins in a scart cable (in European superguns).
But what about wiring a normal, non-stereo Jamma board? OK, a scart socket does have a mono pin (no. 3 or 6, I think) but if I were to use RCA jacks how would I wire them? Should I just run a wire from + and - on the jamma harness to one RCA jack (thus getting sound from one speaker?) or to two in a parallel manner?
Please enlighten me, thanks.

The sound outputs remain the same, so in a 1-slot it's pin L (-) and 10 (+). If +12v is not connected to the PCB they will be unamplified.
