Hi, long time lurker here.

Just got my upgraded Universe BIOS back from Raz, but I can't get the board to start.
Whether the BIOS chip is installed or not, I get this, and there appears to be some corrosion on the underside of the board. Pics here and here (sorry about the poor quality).

Is there anything I can try, or just cut my loses and find another one?

Cheers.

Was the board working before the unibios install?

Do a continuity test on those traces do you think are bad, use external wires to substitute those that do not work.

Make sure you're seating the bios all the way. But you could also have a ground short somewhere.

Yes, it was working with unibios 2.3 before I sent it back for upgrade.

The corrosion is at the Mono/Stereo switch and CN5/CN6 connectors (which are for the NeoGeo cab I believe?), continuity appears to be good.

Am I correct in assuming that the normal behaviour for these boards with no cart or bios would be a blank display?

Call me crazy, but in that video it looks like there's an empty socket on the board where the BIOS is supposed to be.

Did you put the BIOS chip in backwards? Installing EPROMs backwards is a good way to fry them.

yeah, the board displays that regardless of whether the BIOS chip is installed or not, and I did install it the correct way, notch on the chip lined up to the notch of the outline surrounding the socket.

Sounds like your socket is dirty. Replace it with a new one and reinstall the unibios chip.

My SNK BIOS surfaced, and the board runs fine. Crisis averted.
I noticed one of the pins on the unibios was slightly out of place, and I broke it in the process of trying to straighten it :P so I'm ordering a new one from Raz.

Thanks for your input guys. :D

If it's either pin 38, 39 or 40 you can bridge the 3 pins together as they all go to +5v.
