Since it works in both Japan and US it'll have a 100-110VAC PSU (perhaps switchable to 230VAC) which should be OK for you.

Nope. They work only with the 6000 version...

Maybe that one has been modded (a mod like that is easy as cake).

But the fact remains that the Sigma AV7000 is made by its original manufacturer (Kaiten) to work with custom sticks and is NOT compatible with AES sticks. On the other hand, the older version AV6000 was indeed compatible with AES sticks.
