I wish MVS people would stop bashing the home system.

Yeah, so I've got an AES. I'd rather have an MVS, but I don't have the space. The AES isn't nearly as impressively massive as the MVS. I know very well that I am paying more for less; why does it have to be rubbed it? I never get any positive comments on my AES from friends. I'm sure they would freak over an MVS. I could have Puzzled running on MVS and everyone would love it, whereas I could have KOF 98 running on AES, and everyone would be, "MY PS2 could mop the floor with this thing!" Virtually all I ever hear here is anti-home system, and I feel as though home system owners are thought of as "second rate," and it just pisses me off. I have to tell myself that I am not a second-rate Neo gamer, because I have the "vastly inferior in every way" home system. I feel kinda bad about my AES as it is; it's just not impressive at all, and I've spent a fortune on it. Hearing more inflammitory stuff here doesn't help. At least I'm going to get a Phantom-1 for it. That should make it far more economical.

Just expressing my feelings.

I am a pure MVS owner and have never bashed the home system. I enjoy have had the honor of owning several AES systems. One is not necessarily better than the other. They are just different. I do not understand why you are not excited about owning a home system? You say that you plan on getting a phantom-1, correct? Then you will have the best of both. Why would you call the AES inferior?

I have both AES and a MVS 2 Slot and a Phantom Convertor :) and 59 MVS and 9 AES games...

I can´t complain!

Get your AES modded! RGB/Stereo and Bios Mod at www.neogeousa.com then you have the ultimate SNK System. RGB and sound in brilliant arcade quality and all AES/MVS/Develop options.

I have always felt kind of unsatisfied with having to buy cheaper MVS stuff because I couldn't afford the AES carts or system. It's starting to change now that I am selling off lots of my MVS items to buy AES carts and a system though.

I totally agree with you. Some people are real jerks about it too. Honestly, I don't care what they think it just pisses me off that they have to be so rude about it. I mean, honestly, who gives a shit?

The first person recently that comes to mind is MKL. Man that guy has posted some things that make him come off as a real $sshole.

I love my AES and am proud of it. But you don't see me talking down to the people that "only have the MVS carts" or something like that. Or telling everyone how valuable my homecarts are.

I don't know, it just got my goat lately too :) . It's good to see that I'm not that only one.

Can someone please do me the honor of giving me a legitimate reason why one is better than the other - I have yet to hear one?

My AES is modded...stereo, s-vid, debug bios, the works...I'm totally satisfied.

Also, don't certain home carts have certain features, i.e codes not available on MVS format?

As a person who's played endless AES and MVS NEO, I can honestly say I've seen 0 difference in gameplay between the two.

This is an odd topic.

Are you not satisfied with the size of your system? That's the only real difference as far I can tell.

AES & MVS= SAME

I basically said a simple and incontrovertible truth, i.e. that MVS has far superior video output than AES and that this is point alone is enough to make it the superior system, period.

"But we have the precious inserts!"

an insert remains what it is, i.e. a piece of paper just like those you find when you go to the toilet.

Oh, MMM: thanks for giving me the coolest sig I could dream of.

Man, the fact that you had to mod it just proves that AES is inferior...when you mod it, then it's no longer what it was originally.

Anyone who knows me, knows I love to piss the Jigster off.

AES AES AES AES AES AES AES AES AES AES AES AES AES AES AES AES AES AES AES

And I had no idea the MVS video output was superior to AES, so I suppose I can buy into your argument if you ride that issue MKL. I personally never saw much difference, and now that you've told me this, I doubt I would give a shit if mine was still unmodded...guess that's just me though.

Yeah, that's it. I have a pinball machine, and I'd just like to own my own, _indisputable_ arcade, free of "this is really an arcade system; it's just in console form, so I really have a private arcade" explanation.

And MKL, I could go around saying that "The home system's total lack of load times kicks the CD system's ass!" But I don't go around doing it, save for the purposes of this illustration.

I reckon its a case of horses for courses, I like messing around with arcade hardware, being into electronics, its a hobby. I love arcade cabs, at one stage owned 14 cabs, Im now down to 6.Including the two mvs cabs.

Guys that arent that way inclined maybe more comfortable with a home system which requires little or no maintainance and space.

Im not saying mvs cabs are unreliable, its just the nature of the beast, sometimes you need to get the toolbox out, if only to tweek the monitor.
But I enjoy that tech stuff.

Would like a home system as well, but the price of the carts puts me off.

This is fucking stupid. Who cares if you play MVS or homecart, in the end it's all Neo. "Oh no, my MVS's video looks better than the homecart version". People have a name for stupid shit like that;

What makes me mad are those stupid posts like "$1.500 for a Metal Slug??? I got my MVS copy for $20!"...

Seems like AES collectors are totally stupid while he is the smartest guy in the world!

If someone loves the SNK world and wanna collect its products, why should he accumulate brown boxes or plain cartridges while he can collect beautiful insert that are pure art (take the hand-drawn Ninja Master's one)?

I like the MVS feeling but only when played on a cab, I don't like the Phantom1.

But I won't say "AES is better, plain and simple".

AES has some props and slops while the MVS has certain others.

Who cares?

Oh, and this wasn't an AES vs. MVS thread I guess. So stop talking shit.

...BUT...there are things that are objectively more important than others and since the NEO GEO is and remains a videogame, then the quality of its video output is objectively and by far the most important aspect to be taken into account. As a consequence, the MVS far superior RGB output alone is enough to make it the superior system.

Absolutely not. That's just your opinion.

To me putting a cab into my room is a pain, while a simple console is the perfect way to enjoy my games. This applies to many other people.

I also love to collect Neo games, so the AES fits my needs perfectly.

But I won't say AES is better than MVS.

This issue is simply a matter of point of views.

what you said was SUBJECTIVE
don't go around preaching your shit like it's the gospel
while you go around and say 'well the video is better, so it makes it a superior system' others may think the homecarts are better because of the artwork, and the ability to carry it around to other places
there are different reasons for liking different things, don't think yours is the almighty truth
sure, it's a video game, but I care first and foremost about gameplay, not whether or not '*gasp*, it has jaggies!'

Exactly!

Spin it any which way you want, but in the end it's all the same shit!

Why are we the only ones who get this?

And I totally see where you're coming from MMM, but I just don't make a big deal about not having a bonafied (did I spell that right?) arcade setup. Plus, I for one like having the option of setting up my system anywhere in the house.

JHendrix: Price is not enough for me to believe MVS is better, I don't mind shelling out $200+ for a game...again, guess that's just me though. Ask Shawn what a Neostore fanboy I am.

This is a topic about pure cosmetics, because as Gohan and I say, gameplay is identical.

AES: Inserts and cart stickers own MVS.
MVS: True arcade form (big deal).

For the second time, here's the true equation...

AES & MVS= HOMOLOGOUS

HOMOLOGOUS= SAME
