Can someone post a pic of the boards in their Top Hunter cart?

I have a boot here that I suspect has a bad jumper setting.

This one is using the CHA256 board.

Thanks!

LMK if you don't get what you need I can crack open the cart and see what's in it via post picks.

Awesome!

Thanks for the pics, they were very helpful.

Turns out the jumpers were correct, so I focused my efforts on MAME. Substituting a zero byte file for the C ROMs one at a time, I was able to narrow it down to C7 or C8. Pulled C7 first and it had a bad checksum.

One 27C800 EPROM later and the cart is back to normal. :D

Silly boots... they are odd ducks for sure.

That's a pretty nifty way to do it...

Glad you could use those images.

Hey Xiao,

Do you have a progbk1 board in your cart too? If so, can you post a pic of it too? I have missing sounds on different stages and it's driving me crazy.

Damn... that's a progtop board, not a progbk1.

I need jumper settings for v1-v4 where they are 8Mb chips

on a BK1, it would be:

JV3
JV4
JV7
JV8
JV9
JV10

or

JV5
JV6
JV11
JV12
JV13
JV14

If the sound works but sounds like it's missing samples or something you need to play with the JV3, JV4 and JV5, JV6 usually it's either pair.

It's totally missing sounds on some levels... the audio level is very low then it sticks on a horrible sound through the whole ice level... and it's missing on the fire level.

These were set when I got it:

JV7, 8, 9, and 10
JV1 and JV2
J1, J5, J7, J10, and J13
R1, R2, R4, and R6

I tried JV3 and JV4 then JV5 and JV6. All that did was make the existing sounds go garbled. The missing sounds never returned.

I did find that V1 and V2 were bad (It's a boot... go figure) so I replaced all 4 of the V ROMs with ones programmed from the MAME dumps. Once that was done, I tried the different combinations of JV1/JV2 then JV2/JV3 and then JV5/JV6. Only JV1/JV2 worked without giving garbage sounds.

GOT IT!

It wasn't a problem on the V chip area... but rather the M1 chip. The jumpers were correct for the V chips but not the M1 chip.

For the record:

J1 & J4 = 27C301
J2 & J3 = 27C010

Without the jumpers being set right, the M1 chip can't be read properly. The difference between the 2 EPROM types is that the A16 address line and one of the enable lines are swapped.
