I have a Strikers 1999 PCB (Psikyo SH2 hardware). When I let the board sit for a few months without powering it on, it takes 2 or 3 power cycles to get it to power up. As long as I turn it on every few days, it seems to be ok. Possible bad caps or something else?

You'll find that at least 9 out of 10 capacitors on game boards are used for sound. As they are supplied with a regulated DC supply, no caps are needed for power.

Does the board use a battery by any chance? Thats about the only thing I can think of.

Thanks for the help. There's no battery, but I'll try replacing the NVRAM if it's an easy chip to source.

Look to see if there's a PIC chip on there for security. If so, reseat it and resolder the crystal connected to it.
