A friend has a Zed Blade cart with badly corroded and broken pins on the P1 40-pin mask ROM.

I want to replace this mask ROM with a newly programmed EPROM, but what type of EPROM can be used as a drop in replacement? File size is 524288 bytes but there are a few EPROMs with that capacity which have 40 pins.

Ta.

You sure? Isn't the P1 only 512kb? You can use a doubled image with an 800. With a 322 you're gonna have a lot of empty space and you might run into problems with it being empty.

27C400 is 4mbit and DIP40 and has consistent pin out with 27C800 and larger which the board also accepts, it must be that. You should be able to use larger ones in XX's post as long as you mirror the 512KB however many times, it's a waste but it'll work. see if you can get 27C400s before trying that though.

Thanks. I'll verify the pinout against a 27C400 and take it from there.
