I just bought a CECHA00 JPN 60GB PS3. Once I got it home I hooked it up to my HP w2408h 1080p Monitor via HDMI.When I turned on the PS3, the screen said that there was an active HDMI signal but it was 480i and there was no picture on my screen. I searched the net and saw that I have to use the stock av cable and do the video resetting method. So I take the PS3 and hook it up to my Sony WEGA SDTV. This is what I get when I power on the PS3:

TV screen flashes once letting me know that it is receiving a signal
HDD light flashes 1 time only
Dualshock doent synch when usb is attatched ( it only charges the controller)
BD Drive accepts disc no problem
BD Drive spins and you can hear the drive running
BD Drive ejects disc with no problems
Cooling fan powers up as normal
No audio
PS3 takes slightly longer to power down when holding down the front panel power button

Things I have already tried:

Removed the HDD
Switched the HDD from this JPN unit to my US unit (system recognized drive and asked me if I wanted to format)
Switched the HDD from my US unit to my JPN unit (JPN unit still didnt recognize HDD)
Used a different set of PS3 av cables
Used a different set of HDMI cables
Used different TV Sets.

Does anyone know of any REPUTABLE PS3 repair places if this turns out to be something I cant figure out or do on my own.

Thanks in advance!

Phillip

When you turn it on hold the power button until it starts beeping. This resets the factory av settings.

Try using standard ps2 av cables on your ps3. It might be on a 1080p setting that your tv does not detect. Is it a brand new jap ps3 or a used one? If its a used one, the previous person who sold it to you might have it on a video setting that your t.v does not detect or is having trouble detecting, lol, I like to repeat myself.

if that's the case, then gameoverg's advice should work. Turning on the system by holding the power button for 10 seconds until the system beeps will boot it with the default video setting.

RAZO,

Will this prevent the HDD from running as normal? The HDD light flashes one time only. Its almost ike the system may be bricked but also doesnt have audio or video. The unit is a JPN 60GB Launch unit. Thanks

THanks Charlie. I'll try gameoverg's method.

The fact the PS3 can't sync to the television may interrupt the boot process, causing the HDD and controllers to not activate.

If there was a problem, I'd imagine the system would give you the intermitten yellow light and beeping (what mine did before it died)

No problem dude. I know when I messed around with my hdmi settings on my ps3, my T.V did not detect the 1080p HDMI setting, but it detected the 1080i setting fine. Try the 10 second power hold method and if that still does not work, try the Ps2 Av cables. Using the Ps2 Av cables will automatically bypass the hdmi settings.

If a factory reset doesn't quite fix it, stick the jp drive in the us system and format the drive (BACK YOUR SAVES UP ON THE US SYSTEM), then do another factory reset.
