Okay, so I picked up a 4-slot with a Japanese bios, and have a 2-slot with an English bios.

Can I swap the two? Or are stock bios chips board-specific?

If I can't swap 'em, do I need to worry about how many slots the board has when buying a unibios?

I frankly would be happiest to just have a U.S. bios in my four-slot, but if that requires tracking down a four-slot US bios, I may say screw it and get a unibios for it instead.

Swapping will probably work. I've actually used a stock MV-4F bios on an MV-1B before and it worked just fine. Anyway, it won't hurt anything to try. They're both socketed bioses and it will either work or it won't.

For a Unibios, it doesn't really matter. It doesn't care about # of slots.

All that said, you should get a Unibios anyway. You won't regret it. :)

That is so true mmsadda:buttrock: Even if you don't want to cheat, the ability to pause a game is worth it!

I think you just have to make sure they are put in the right direction,Yes?

I have a OLD Uni Bios chip in the Candy Cab.4 slot board..It comes in handy..I've had some issues with it that i can only figure happening because of it but it's worthwhile
..I like the pause as I have two kids.

Thanks guys.

I just don't know, and need to know, whether the 2-slot US bios can be used in the 4-slot Japanese board in place of the 4-slot JP bios.

Yes it should work..
was going to take a US Bios from a two slot and put it in a 4 slot to remove the uni bios(to see if I could figure out issues I was having either due to chip or something esls.
At the time I didn't find a reason that I could not do the switch.

I can't find anything on it that says it won't..

I want to try and help you further by giving you a thread-topic or distinct info on it as I know the same question has been asked many times,Shoot I know years ago I asked the same question myself..
But I'm coming up with nothing on it..(besides finding this thread online:)

i know I was left off back then after making my own thread, ..that It can be done.

If you have both boards and both bioses already, just swap them. The worst that happens is it doesn't work and you swap them back.

Also, if you really prefer the standard US bios to a Unibios and want it in both your boards, I'm sure someone here could burn you one.
