One of my AES sticks will not move up in any direction (I think it will sometimes go straight up, but it has to be really prodded). Before I send it away to be fixed, is there anything I can do myself? I have no electronic maintainance knowledge outside of smacking the thing. A- wigglin' and a-jigglin' the cord proves to be of no avail.

If all else fails, how much would a repair cost? I'll probably have to send it to Jim Kurtz.

Thanks.

Umm, no. IF its a worn out microswitch - replace it. Couple of dollars, if that. Also check for dodgy joints inside. However, its often a lead, in which case you'd need a whole new lead :(
