UPDATE: Will be in the Washington D.C. Area, 6-9 March, but since I'm driving down from New Jersey, most likely I won't be doing much of any hanging out on the 6th, more likely on the 7th and the 8th, and maybe on the 9th though I will be driving back up to the Garden State then.

I will be attending a grassroots workshop (Speaker & Advocacy Training) at American University I think the workshop is not just the one hosted by Anna Baltzer, but she's the reason I'm participating. She's a Jewish-American fully committed to the advocacy of searching for peaceful resolutions of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and has worked with both human rights group both inside and outside of Israel and the Occupied Territories to further the vision of peace. I attended one of her workshops back in November in Philadelphia, PA, and that was a richly rewarding experience, so presented with another opportunity to attend her training workshop, as well as get in touch with other groups likely to be converging from all over the country (learn how other grassroot groups are opening dialogue on the subject of Palestine and Israel), I don't want to miss out on this opportunity.

I would be totally game, but my lil bro is in town the same week and will likely be surfing my couch.

I would, however, be totally up for grabbing a beer with you bok.

Can we grab Shochuu or Sake instead man?

Hate to be a party pooper, but I am not just no good with alcohol (Shochuu and Sake are just about the only alcohol I can handle 'cos they remind me of Narazuke) --- one may argue that I don't even like alcohol. I think it's a waste of a good pint to let me drink it, which is unfortunate, 'cos cooking is my passion, and that's an indispensable trait to have, innit, to discriminate the taste of good wines.

Right now I'm pursuing three options --- stay with a distant relative who lives in Maryland, someone on Neo-Geo.com forums who would let me crash 2 nights, or my colleague's son who lives in Silver Springs. The last option is a fall back 'cos he and I got into a heated argument about the Israeli christmas offensive into Gaza that took place 2 years ago. I mean, I don't feel embarrassed at all to open dialogue that work towards a peaceful resolution to the Palestinian Israeli conflict, but my colleague's sympathies lie with Israel 'cos he has relatives there --- I get the impression that he advocates the Israeli unilateral action without Palestinian input foreign policy. Hence, if possible, I am hoping the first 2 options yield dividends.

Bok, I'd be up for non alcoholic hanging out as well. There are a ton of great places for food in the Northern VA, DC, Southern MD region.

Whatup d00ds --- looks like I secure lodgings at my relative's. :vik:

So the rest is just planning for meetups --- let's hang out.

Oh and just to throw it out there, is anyone else interested in participating in these workshops? I provided links to this conference in the first post of this thread.

I'd be down, but I just started a new job, so I'm not sure what my schedule will look like.

Alwight :vik: Prepaid phone in hand, I'm all set for the trip down to D.C.

I'll know what my schedule is like as the conference draws near, by which time I'll PM me phone number to the people who've posted in this thread, and work out tentative time and place to converge.
