I am wondering how I do this from my arcade machine to my computer? Like capturing video from it, anyone know how?

You'd need to take a video output from the machine and put it into a Video capture card, then grab a still using its software or something like Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro. A cheap card will only have composite or s-vid in so you'd need one of those.

Frankly, with a cheap card and the conversion processes (RGB>whatever, then the capture card process), the images will be pretty shite. I know I'll be frowned on for saying it, but this is the thing an emulator is good for - screen shots. Just use an emulator!

i think fox1 is wondering about video, not stills. normally a supergun with composite out will do it. then a video capture device (like my ati all in wonder pro that i'm using to copy gargoye7's vid to my pc) to capture it. usually a faster pc will make a HUGE difference. my capture pc is a measly 400Mhz and i have to first capture video uncompressed (which like the buriki 1 vid is HUGE, that 10 min vid was 1.3 gigs)which later you can convert to another format. but since i'm starting to ramball, let me give the quick quick version.

Supergun with video out. pc with video capture. capture program (like adobe premiere) hard drive space (the faster the drive the better)

this should hopefully be enough... anything else, just ask.

:D
I don't see rgb in listed as one of the features, but it would shock me if it didn't support it as the previous models in that line did (and did it very nicely, too, too bad they are NT 4 only) and it appears to still have the sync plugs next to the component/rgb in plugs. Or of course you could do what eggplant suggested and get a rgb to s-video encoder and capture it with an ati tv wonder if you want to do it for cheap, but the quality just won't be the same.

err, don't remember any pinnacle systems having RGB in - u sure? Most consumer capture cards don't. With pinnacle its usually S-Vid or DV.

Anyway, same for vid as stills. Still not gonna be amazing - either link your neo into a decent VCR and edit from tape (urgh) or again - emulation! Usually emulators will do vid too - if not you could use some software to do it.

But how do I connect my arcade machine to either a VCR or my computer?

some fancy wiring and an adapter like the one sold at www.jrok.com this will give you composite and s-vid out.

That's why the Targa line isn't a consumer line, the cards are around $6,500 a pop. The Targa 2000 Pros definitely do RGB but they only have NT 4 drivers. The nice thing about 2000 Pro cards is you can get them for a couple hundred off of ebay.

*bangs head*

Look, the supergun gives out RGB. So if you have an RGB VCR (in europe, a SCART VCR) then you connect the RGB out of the supergun to the RGB in of the VCR [or superduper capture card].

If not, you may be lucky enough to have S-vid out on the supergun. If not, make an RGB - S-vid converter, and use s-vid.

Do you have a link for the schematic needed to make one?

Edit: finally found a schematic: http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Horizon/7694/vgatv/hardware-AD724.html just need to replace the crystal listed with a 3.58 MHz one for NTSC.

Hmm... on second thought do you know of one that is easy to solder? The AD724 is surface mount and therefore quite hard to solder...
