For an MVS jamma board that I'm playing the Samurai Shodown series/Metal Slug Series on, do I need a kick harness? Also, where's a good place to figure out what all I need to get up and running?

You don't need a kick harness for playing any MVS games. However you need to have an extra button (the D one) wired in the JAMMA harness.

Kick harness is needed in most Capcom fighters and other games, but not MVS.

Since the Super Nova comes pre-wired to handle 4 button games instead of the standard 3, does this mean that MVS games will work right away?

Yep, it works fine on mine! (I needed to jumper the V/SYNC on the board to get it to run properly though (it would sync with the TV AT ALL). That was on a 4-slot board, and I'm the only one that I know of that had this problem. The guy at MAS was able to walk me right through it, and was even willing to do it for free if I sent the board and paid return shipping, so if you need it done and you can't solder, you can always got that route if you have the same problem)
