hey i was wondering, i looked @ how much those goddamn amiga RGB monitors go for on ebay, and half arent even known to work. thats crazy. so then i looked in the monitor section and typed in "RGB" and tons of cheap monitors w/ "RGB IN" leads appeared. do those work the same way too. like as if it was an amiga 1084S monitor?

here are 2 that i looked @:

<a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2040731219" target="_blank">1st one</a>

<a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2041623463" target="_blank">2nd one</a>

i know u guys have the answer!@!@!@!@!

Tandy monitors have terrible resolution, so you might want to invest in a decent Amiga monitor instead. They're not very big (17" at best), but you will get excellent resolution. You will need a special RGB cable since the pinout is different, tho'. I bought my RGB cable from Redmond Cable (they had it specifically tailored to my Amiga monitor), but the price was quite expensive. Redmond Cable might still exist today, but I'm not too sure about it.

I mucho prefer using an Apple ][ GS monitor. My test rig at home uses one and I was using one when Iw as doign some wierd multiple monitor Neo Geo experiments (trust me, NEVER do patchwork wiring on an LSPC-A0!)

Will amiga monitors (1084s) f***-up if put on the side for vertical shooters?

I know normal TVs do.

check flea markets and thrift stores... they sometimes have a ton of old amiga stuff. I currently own 3 amiga monitors and I didn't pay over $5-$10 for any of em.

Great way to ask for help there....

He preffered to use an "Apple ][ GS" monitor.

Apple is the company that makes Mac's, but before Mac's they made "Apple" computers. The Apple ][ GS was I think their last model in the "Apple" series of machines.

So, no "Apple" and "Mac" aren't the same fucking thing.

And yes, thrift stores and flea markets are a good spot to go for old computer parts. Look for 15kHz RGB monitors.

Some PC, maybe some Mac monitors, have RGB in on BNC jacks. Usually these will take a signal ok, but the picture could be mediocre due to the upscan conversion (if any). You NEED the upscan converter to be able to play stuff on a SVGA monitor.

Basically, the Amiga monitors are worth it. No it isn't the only option, get an RGB TV, get an S-VID convertor so you can use your S-VID TV, or get a cab!
