I am wondering if anyone has an easy solution to my problem. I bought a 2 slot cab a while back and the pcb board was installed further back in the machine. I recently decided to move the board up to the headphone and memory card plate on the front and have noticed that the MV-IC support plate hits the carts when I close the CP. I was thinking of cutting the support plate in order to shorten it, but still be able to use it if I decide to upgrade to a 4 slot board. Does anyone else have this issue and does anyone know of any other possible solutions to this issue that wouldn't require me altering the CP?

Cutting the plate won't help. Hold an mvs cart in front of the CP closed and you will see that the mvs cart is taller than the vertical area in front of the CP, so even if you take out the plate, the cart would still get caught by the underside of the CP.

My problem isn't closing the CP with the carts installed, it's with the MV-IC mount, the mount cuts into the side of the carts, and I don't want that happening. The CP will close completely, because the carts don't sit all the way in the front. They sit just under the back of the CP.

Look at the four screw holes on the mount. They correspond to the actual size of the MV-IC board. So you can take off the area beyond the screw holes and still be able to fix the board on the mount. How much margin you want to leave is up to you. If you can still close the CP with a cart in the front slot, an inch off the edge is probably all you need.

Yeah, actually I only need to take 1/2 inch off. I just think it's strange how the 2 slot cab is designed to use the on board memory card reader and headphone jacks, but they didn't seem to make the control panel accomodate this. Especially considering where the screw mounts are located when compared to the end of the mounting plate. I seems they made it just a little too long. Looks like I'll have some work to do this weekend.

I know what you mean by the mem card steel plate in the cab..When I opened up the Big Red two slot I had with two slot mem card reader on board I was like,Why does this cabs CP have the mem card reader plate in it...I guess the CP were used for another cabs such as a 1 slot..As my four slots cp buttons line up was not the same.

I almost chopped the plate out myself<but then thought about removing it via it's welds so that I could oput it back in somehow. as it was a pain but then thinking if I upgraded to a 4 slot in the two slot cab then maybe I'd use this plate with a mem card reader board.
The two slot board would sit up against the front sideways..So I think ify ou installed a 4 slot board you'd be ok..I would actually put a 4 slot board in the rear middle of the cab whereas the CP would not get near the cars as there is no need to have the 4 slot board up front..

I wound not cut anything if your thinking of getting a 4 slot board as you'll need that steal plate if you want to install a mem card reader plate.

Well from what I see, the MV-IC plate on the CP is about an inch or so longer than the back set of mounting brackets. This should allow me to trim off about 1/2-3/4 of an inch without affecting the functionality of the mount and allow the CP to close completely. Doing this should allow me to still use it later if I upgrade.

Don't cut off at the weld. The mount is designed so that the MV-IC would line up to the holes on the CP and you can plug in the mem card or headphones easily. If it's misaligned, the mem card reader would not match up to the holes and be rendered useless, since you can't insert either the headphones or the mem card from the outside.
