At this point, it has to be something with my board. My newer games (slug 4/ssvs/and now SvC) will play, but after awhile, the sound will garble or just cut off.

-Is this something pretaining to the BIOS?
-Possibly I need to juice up the PSU because the newer carts need more energy?
-Something else is wrong with the board?

I did a preliminary exam, everything was fine.. no broken traces, no shorts, no oozing battery, all the good stuff. Other than being a bit on the dusty side, I couldn't find anything wrong. Anyone got any ideas?

edit: board info would help lol:

MV-1F
Standard BIOS
DIPSET:00000010
JAMMA wired
Mono sound setting
No extras hooked up (coin counters/memcards/etc)

Check the PSU, monitor the current on the +12v line.

Bah, PSU is going out, it's dropping to about 10v after about 3min of runtime. Shouldn't this affect my older games too though?

Not necessarily. Some older games sound circuits use a regulator that accepts 10-12v or something like that. I did notice that with the Neo anything under 10.5v and then sound starts to drop out.

Some PSUs are able to slightly raise the output of the +12v line if you raise the +5v rail as well. But I'd rather get a new PSU.
