Refinishing an AES

Hey all, I just recently purchased my first AES, and I got it a little on the cheap 'cuz it was dinged up. I was possibly looking into making it look prettier, and was wondering if there is a special paint that I would need to paint over the scratches, and restore the gold logos on one of my controllers. Not sure if it's totally possible to get it looking like new again, but if you guys have any input, it would be much appreciated.

Sand the whole thing back to a nice smooth finish and go over it with a few coats of a low gloss black.

The best way I can think of to restore the logo is to download and print one, shrink it to the correct size and print it, then cut it out with a craft knife and use it as a stencil. Paint with automotive spraypaint.

Not sure how you could restore the smaller white writing, its probably too small to do with the method above.

I might try that. My AES is scratched up but I was able to find one boxed with a matching serial for cheapy.

Would the sanding take off the logos on the main console? I'm not too good with my hands, and I can do a coat of paint, but redoing the logo might prove painful.

Sounds like a big pain in the ass. I'd just make it look different; put on a nice coat of red or blue low gloss.

Alright, so I shouldn't just paint over the scratches, I'd need to redo the whole thing then.

It's not really that bad, just not as good as it could be, and I'd like to pretty it up if possible

From far away it doesn't look that bad

But up close you can see some scratching and scarring

And on the front left, there's a chip. I doubt this can be fixed.

So it's not all that too terrible, just not as pretty as I'd like it.

That will obviously look like absolute shit if you paint straight over it. Paint doesn't hide imperfections, it makes them stand out more.

The logo would be the least of my worries. That machine will look a thousand times better sanded and freshly painted, logo or no logo.

That chip can be fixed. Anything can be repaired if you use your imagination.

Look around for replacement cases. There are tons of dead systems that have shells that can be used.

Yeah, I try to keep most of my stuff in good condition, but the Neo, and the X'eye were good deals. However the X'eye isn't really bad, just a scratch along the cd cover. Most of what's in that photo is dust.
