Senko no Ronde DUO will be my Game of the Year 2010. Day 1 purchase for sure.

I'll probably get both SnRDUO and Ketsui at the same time though, if Ketsui's release date is real.

I just ordered my copies from NCS on Friday. DUO will probably never see a US port thanks to Wartech bombing unless Death Smiles does crazy numbers here somehow.

I just ordered DUO and should have it in a week or so. Can't wait, I was pretty lousy at 1 but really enjoyed it.

I will be up for online when I get it

I'm waiting until Deathsmiles 2 gets released so I can have both games ship together. Once they arrive, expect to find me playing Duo's multiplayer very often.

The 360 port of the first Senko has graphics beyond what the Dreamcast is capable of (watch videos of the 360 port and original Naomi versions side-by-side and you should see a big difference), and DUO improves upon that even further. But if you don't like the graphical style, that's another matter. As for the gameplay, like most versus games, multiplayer is how it's meant to be experienced.

it was the really underdeveloped character models that i didnt like, VERY basic almost entirely geometric with almost no attention to detail(compare it to voot)...i loved the idea of the game but i assume for the gameplay to really shine i need another capable player and thats not happening in my neck of the hilljack woods...

G.rev did that on purpose as a stylistic choice. Senko's gameplay is inspired by Virtual On, so it's pretty likely that the graphical style was inspired by it too. I personally like the style.

The models in DUO are far more complex in terms of design, though they still maintain a similar style.

the mechs seemed very simplistic to me..like they were modeled for a dc or ps2 poly count..
i am going to do some digging on duo though and see what i can find. i dont like to ever rule out anything that may end up being sweet. i really liked the dramatic elements during fights and such in the first game i thought it mixed well during battle...
i really need to break down and get a jpn xbox 360..again(i need 3 more dc shmups and i can move on to a new system) its hard to buy another xbox when you alread have 4 in your household. but, soooo many shmups in japan....

Well, in the first game at least, they were. It was originally a Naomi game, after all.

Also, I find it kind of strange that something like that bothers you, since you apparently enjoy playing/collecting Dreamcast shooters.

the character models in the dc shmups are never presented as close up as they are in snr. everything is displayed at a distance so textures and details arent as important, but snr zooms in frequently. ...some dc games are lacking when compared to say CAVE level of detail(mushi).. but the dc is also a 10+ year old system..the xbox 360 is not. when did that game come out on naomi? isnt the naomi hardware kinda a successor to the dc(or similar)? maybe thats why snr feel like a dc game to me. and your right if i were to compare it to a dc game it wouldnt be that bad..but it was released as an xbox 360 game.

I believe it was released April 2005 in arcades. I don't think it matters what platform a game is on. If it's a good quality game and your a fan, that's a personal thing. Graphics shouldn't be a primary thing anyway. At least not for me. I actually love how SnR looks. I mean, the NES Mega Man series is still being released on current gen consoles and still selling well with its classic graphical style even though it's priced at $10. Senko No Ronde sold well and earned a Platinum Hits release in Japan.

i d love to say i am with you on this but i love pretty pictures(i am a artist,as corny as it sounds). one of the reasons i love shmups is the aesthetics and the 2d sprite animated ones are my faves..same thing with the castlevania series. i enjoy the emersion i get from looking at beatifully rendered fantastical worlds. but i definatly understand your point of view.

Not much else is 100% guaranteed yet, but safe bets would be :

DDPDFK
Akai Katana
Stranier
Radirgy Noir
...and possibly some other stuff
