Just a bit curious about something.

I know the Universe BIOS allows using "Select" as "Coin" but what about on a single slot MVS?

I'm building a CMVS with a MV-1C in which I plan to install a Socketed BIOS. I'd like to use Select on my joystics for Coin, as its somehow more fun than setting it to freeplay.

Is there functionality for select buttons on 1 slot boards?

if not, if I want to use "Select" to insert coins should I just wire Coin to "select" on my controller ports on the CMVS side?

You can go either way. I have not tested this in my MV-1FZ but on my 1C select worked as service. I have my superGUN wired with CPS2/CPS1 kick harnesses and I have found no problems with this layout, I based by button configuration around the Neo Geo 15 pin connector and it has worked great as it is.

However I also have a Capcom Impress candy cab, and when I bought it it had that JAMMA pin (the select pin) to button 5 as well as to the kick harness. This caused that we accidentally were giving service credits when the ne was plugged into teh cab. I undid all these and left it JAMMA compliant though.

I mention this just in case you plan on using your superGUN for something else I have found it quite useful to stick to JAMMA with the 4 button layout, and leave those other pins unused.

I have found two bootleg boards that afriend brought home that use them though.

no worries there, this is a pure self contained CMVS, not a supergun.
