Monster Hunter Freedom Unite
Wipeout Pulse
R-Type Command
Patapon 2
Fantasy Golf Pangya (no demo, but I love the Wii versions)

I play my PSP constantly, these are my favorites.

1. Phantasy Star Portable 2
2. Castlevania the Dracula X Chronicles
3. PixelJunk Monsters
4. Gran Turismo
5. Tekken 6

I really recommend Phantasy Star Portable 2. The online is fantastic. Sega (alpha systems) has managed to cram everything from Phantasy Star Universe and it's expansion and add more. The online is free and every bit as fun as the PSU online experience. It's great.

Castlevania has SotN and Rondo of Blood. Two of my favorite games ever made. The screen is a bit dark on both games and the emulations aren't perfect, but they are great to play on the handheld.

PixelJunk Monsters is my favorite tower defense game I've played so far. It has great personality and you unlock a lot of different towers that add a lot of replay to the game. I've played it for months now and see no end in sight.

Gran Turismo and Tekken 6 are wonderful games that look amazing.

PSP is by far my most played system, behind the PC right now.

The DS thread gets to list a top 10, but we're supposed to limit ourselves to 5?
Fuck that. Here's 10:

Castlevania X Chronicles
Gundam Battle Universe
Ultraman Fighting Evolution 0
MGS: Portable Ops
Ultimate GnG
Metal Gear Acid 2
Ridge Racers 2
Power Stone Collection
Star Wars: the Force Unleashed
Outrun 2006

I still feel like I'm forgetting something.

I see your point but i just said 5 becouse why the psps library isnt nearly as big as dses. The ds has like 3 times the games psp has.

Most of is shovelware.

And if you don't like RPGs (I don't) and cutesy kid games (I don't), then the DS library suddenly becomes much smaller.

I would argue there are actually more top quality titles for PSP than for DS, total library count be damned. Here's my list:

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy
Half-Minute Hero
Patapon 1 & 2
Castlevania X Chronicles
Metal Gear Portable Ops & Portable Ops +
Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions
God of War: Chains of Olympus
GTA: Vice City Stories
Mega Man Maverick Hunter X
Mega Man Powered Up

Half-Minute Hero is probably my favourite. Honourable mentions go to Crush and Dissidia Final Fantasy, and Metal Gear Peace Walker and Persona 3 Portable will undoubtedly make the list when they come out.

I know there are a few good games for the PSP mentioned above, but it's sad that the majority of the games being listed are either sub-standard ports of their PS2/3 equivalents or remakes/compilations of other previously released games. It seems like the prior generation of portables had a lot more original and unique games. I won't discount the quality of original IPs like Loco Roco or Patapon, but I just wish that more of these games would come out to actually make the system a different and unique gaming experience other than a PS3 lite.

Oh, so we are now ignoring that a healthy percentage of the good GBA games came from SNES games? It's okay for GBA to port the fuck out of SNES and CPS-1 and 2, but now suddenly it's a bad thing to have quality ports of PC-Engine, PS1 and PS2?

Yeeeeah, that's not hypocritical at all...
