Hi,

Just bought a Vogatek Supergun IV and a 60 in 1 arcade cart. It has all my faves, including Mr Do!, Mr Do's Castle, but unfortunately the 8 way Neo Geo sticks cause control issues.

I believe I need a 4 way stick.

A couple of noobie questions:-

1) Is it possible to make an existing Neo Stick into a 4 way? I have all the different types at present

2) Could I replace the actual joystick in a Neo Stick with say a Sanwa 4 way stick?

3) Do the 4/8 way switchable sticks still have the control issue, as there are 8 positions for movement on these, or are the other 4 movements restricted by the stick somehow or is it just a switch?

Any help would be appreciated. I don't want to spend a fortune, and would prefer to build something if that's possible?

Cheers, Lee

#3 -- there is a restricter plate at the base of the stick allowing it to only move in 2/4/8 directions. By adjusting the plate you increase / decrease movement of stick to allow only the # of directions desired.

Hi topher,

Thanks for that. I was concerned that if the joystick still physically allowed you to select those other 4 positions, that it would still be a problem. There are a fine selection of 4/8 way sticks on here:-

I'm wondering if I can replace the joystick in the original Neo stick with one of these types?

Has anyone attempted such a thing with a standard Neo Stick?

I believe there is a tutorial floating around...try search.

Plenty of members have put a Sanwa or Seimitsu in a neo stick

Hi,
Found the tutorial on putting a Sanwa stick into the AES Neo joystick. Good stuff.

How the hell do you remove the ball from the Neo stick? Mine seems almost welded!!!

All done. The Sanwa stick I used was a lot deeper than the usual one, so I had to carve a square piece of the bottom of the joystick. I may also change the buttons to better quality sanwa ones too.
