I'm not sure if anyone knows this already, but I have discovered that a japanese nes power adapter (famicom) works perfectly with the AES. I'm guessing the american AC adapter works fine too, but I don't want to risk the 110v power supply on my japanese AES.

Someone sold me a home cart system that had been used with the NES power supply and it was dead as a doornail.

I don't know what killed it but...

But it won't work on a US first generation system like the one I have. The first gen systems use some type of bizarre adapter where Jeff Kurtz actually has to build me a replacement because even places like Radio Shack don't have an equivalent for sale. Sucks!!

NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!

Unless the NES is different in the US (doubtful) it requires AC input, NOT DC (which is what the Neo requires). So DON'T DO IT!

Was a post about this recently...

on the bottom of the AES it says for use with AC adapter only <img src="graemlins/spock.gif" border="0" alt="[Spock]" />

yup slightly misleading - it adapts the AC coming from your mains outlet to whatever the machine needs - which in this case is low voltage DC :)

I see, so it is best to not use the famicom adapter, any other adapter I could use though?

I think it should also be noted that I have a second revision AES

works fine (I believe) for my jap home cart system.
