I was reading up on the wonderswan and I think I want to get one. Anyone have one or have any stories. Looks like a great/fun handheld. Also, what games would you recommend? Thanks!

This thread has some good info : http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=204654

As for games, if you can't read Japanese, then you'll be limited to action and puzzle games.

The Magical Drop game is pretty good. So is the Puyo Puyo 2 port. But neither of those games is in color. If you can read Japanese, I highly recommend Wild Card by Squaresoft.

I figured I would be limited to those. I've seen some screen shots of awesome games and I love Magical drop. Any rpgs that are english friendly? Also which swan should I go for? I've opted out the b&w, so a color or crystal?

Thanks Hentai!

I'd recommend a Crystal. As for English-friendly RPGs, I can't really think of any. Maybe the WSC port of Front Mission.

I was thinking about getting one myself but opted not to due to a lack of games I'd actually play. It seems the vast majority of games for the system are RPGs. From what I've heard the screen on the color isn't all that great so I'd say if you're going to get one go for the crystal.

front mission is indeed english friendly.
I have pretty much all versions. The crystal screen is nice, but it's not backlit.

The "One Piece" game is pretty cool. It's kind of like a handheld Smash Bros game.

the color and crystal also both play the b&w games as well so you can get the mega man one(i think its a b&w game), makimura(also b&w), which are both pretty good. pocket fighters not so bad for what it is as well. also if you can find it the color copy of tetris is pretty good, the one piece game is pretty fun as well. i dont have a crystal i only have a color but i guess i would recomend the crystal as well.

edit: the b&w megaman game is rockman and forte. i think theres a color game as well.

I have a WonderSwan, but rarely use it. The only game I have for it is Gunpey. The library is pretty much a small handful of good games and then a flood of Bandai-licensed / anime titles. I'm glad I have one, but I'd say it's more of a collector's thing. I'd go with a Crystal.

There's a Rockman and Forte sequel for WS and I think it's an exclusive.

Even though I rarely play mine, I still want the see-through orange one...

Here is a small list of games that are "English" friendly to get into playing.
Digimon Battle Spirit (fighter)
Battle Spirit: Digimon Tamers (fighter)
Digimon: Veedraman Verson (English RPG)
Buffers Evolution (platformer)
Guilty Gear Petite 1 (fighter)
Guilty Gear Petite 2 (fighter)
Puyo Puyo 2
Bust-A-Move

Klonoa: Moonlight Museum (nice platformer)
One Piece Swan Colosseum (fighter)
Lime Rider Keroikan (Musical beat oriented platformer)
SD Gundam Operation UC (repetitive shooter action, leveling up for character)
Pocket Fighter
Gundam Seed
( is playable, but knowing Japanese would really add to the gaming experience. Just shooting action apart from that. Great graphics in this one! I do know that it does follow the movie story line.)
Crazy Climber
Magical Drop
Mr. Driller

I do have one of the Final Fantasy games. And I once played it along side of the GBA one just to be able to play it on my SwanCrystal.

I have seen a racer out for it but I haven't picked that up yet.
