Well, I think this kind of topic is not very welcome here. Just buy original games, they're worth it.
Anyway I'll explain it a little: most back-ups, specially from new games, will hang up with a "disc error" after some loads. That way you can use them as a demo and then judge if you want to buy the original.

I really dont care if you think I am lying, I just like to protect what I pay for. I would prefer to wreck a disc that cost me 30-50 cents instead of one that cost me $30 or more ok!
Have a nice weekend!

OK, I'm sure you've seen that copying isn't welcome in here.

Basically, these are collector's items too. Piracy devalues games. If there's say 10 copies of a game in existence, people will pay a lot for it. How would you feel if you owned one, only to see the value plummet due to another person copying it?

Simple answer to your question - LOOK AFTER YOUR ORIGINALS. Keep them in the case when you're not playing with them. If you break the case or whatever, get a decent wallet to keep your games in. On systems that have them (Saturn, PSX, PSOne, Dreamcase - don't know about Neo CD don't have one) use the brake BEFORE you take the game out. Open the lid BEFORE turning the console off. The brake stops the disc spinning. That's why discs get those circular scratches - cuz they didn't completely stop before being handled.

Oh and FYO, it IS illegal to make backups of your games. CDs are considered much more durable - the original law (if it exists) referred to (which I believe is ONLY an american law) was primarily for magnetic storage media.

There's more to having and enjoying a game than being able to play it. There's the nice artwork, packaging, having the instructions, owning a collectable item. A "backup" is worth nothing, except a prison sentence or hefty fine (we're talking maybe $5,000 - maybe higher now). How many ORIGINAL games could you get for that??? <IMG SRC="smilies/wink.gif" border="0">

Like I said, look after your games and you'll be ok. Have you checked if it has a brake yet?

It's STILL ILLEGAL to copy your own games!

Why not buy the games, and don't F#ck them up? I own some CD games, and there is not a single scratch anywhere on any of them. Just don't touch the bottoms. It's not hard to do.

Ever have younger kids, around kids games get f-up all the time. Also it is safer to touch the bottom of the cd then the top. About half the thickness of the cd is the clear "plastic" bottom. So for you people that put the top of cd down be careful!!!

well, if you have kids, dont let them near your nice stuff. I dont have kids, but i have a 4 year old nephew, and a 14 yeaer old cousin that are ALWAYS at my house. And they have never even TOUCHED my Neo arcade sticks, or handled one of my carts.

Its easy to do. Hell ill admit, i burn the hell out of Sony's games, they are worthless anyway you look at it. But the Neo is sacred.

I play burns of some of my more valuable/rare PSX games (Tactics being the primary one here). Jeeze lay off the guy though, I mean god you people sure are anti piracy for a system that only resellers make money off of anymore.

Keep it in a no-go area, maybe your bedroom. Or a high cupboard.

BTW, a CD is made up like this...

Printing -------------
Protective Coating -------------
Foil (data area) -------------
Bottom =============

True, there's less layers on the top. But the coating makes it resistant to scratches. The bottom isn't. If that gets scratched, the laser can't read the data. Good luck polishing a scratch out without putting more in!

And piracy wise....

"US officials say the hackers - whose postings include the latest Microsoft software and recent films such as 'Harry Potter' - are responsible for 95 percent of all pirated software available online, causing at least $1bn in lost revenues each year."
