I just wondered, how many different ones are there for the NeoGeo?

A few people mention problems when selecting games as in you have to skip an error before the selected game will boot. I'm looking to try and fix this in the next unibios release but of course I need to know have many different types their are. and errors etc.

I suspect most put a small program into RAM so I may need to either borrow these carts or have people give some detailed info on the errors and RAM areas I need.

Happy new year everyone.

One thing I do notice about the 100 in 1 is that all games are defaulted at Level 8 difficulty. I am able to set the softdip as normal and do a soft reboot and it will stay on that game even after hard shutdown until you hold start for 5 seconds to go to the title select menu.

What are the errors people get after game swapping?... Screen shost and also a note of how many games on the cart may help.

I wasn't able to recreate the error this time on Spinmasters like I had last time. Maybe it's because I set the softdip?

Maybe the first time was because I had cheats for another game enabled then switched games.

Don't know if this classifies as an error...but my 100 in 1 cart doesn't play every game. Some games reset after 1 level or about 30 seconds of game play.

on my 100 in 1 Metal Slug X does only play in free play mode, when you want to insert a credit it resets every time.

That's weird and you are using a Unibios or stock?

Stock...I was told it's a power issue...but I tested it at various voltages and nothing worked. Surprise I didn't fry anything. I use a Happ Power Supply...the LED was nice and bright Red.

I know that in Garou: MOTW when you perform Kim Jae Hoon's TOP move it will cause the game to freeze. It seems to be temporary, but it takes about a minute for the game to unfreeze. When it happens to me the computer always wins when it unfreezes which makes me believe that the game is still working while the animation is frozen. Also sometimes my metal slugs will reset themselves, but if I power cycle my cabinet it will work. Seems to only restart after I've played other games on the cart.

It does sound like a PSU issue though. Did you try 5.1v at the edge?

Hi

Here are some screenshots from the crashes (unibios 3.0).

48 games in 1
multigame 32 in 1
multigame 45 in 1
multigame 100 in 1

In each case when you power-on the mvs it will boot directly into the game selection menu. When you pick a game it will crash with the above dumps. If you do 'c' to reset, it will boot directly into the game you picked.

I have a bunch of other "in1" carts if you need/want more.

Excuse my ignorance...not understanding "at the edge"

Were you adjusting the voltage with the board connected or without? You need to adjust voltage with the board connected to the jamma harness since there is voltage drop sometimes.

Ha Ha...I'm retarded. Yes the board was connected. I will mess with it again and see what happens. Thanks for the advice...I don't want to distract from the topic of this thread. I thought my issues may be helpful with different errors.

Isuues that happen in game is not something I can probably fix sorry, I'm only intrested in errors that are related to game swapping like the screens ack has provided. If other people can provide the same screens and the type of hardware used that would be great for now.

Here are the rest of mine. All are on a 2slot CMVS.

These all crash when you select a game. Some carts boot directly to the first game, then you have to do p1+p2 start buttons to break into the game select screen. The others will boot directly to the game select screen.

The game number selected will either be in register d3, or (game number - 1) will be in register d6 & 0xffff.

super 8 in 1 number 22

This one has the jamma daughter board. With the jamma board plugged into my CMVS, it boots directly into a game then crashes right after the violence warning.
super 138 in 1
Without the jamma board plugged in, it boots and plays fine, just cant select any games.

Let me know if you need anything else.

This is great info... There seems to be only two that give a different error than the others. The 12 in 1 and 138 in one. Is the 138 in 1 crash screen after game swapping or the crash you describe? I really need the crashes after game swap only for now.

Also the 12 in one gives a different error from the others. It seems to give illegal instruction at 0xff16c while all the others (apart from 138 in one if the error screen you gave is after game change) give 0x2f00c0. I wonder if you can test changing between different games on the 12 in one and confirm its always that same error? Also try the same on some of the other carts (try swapping between a few different games) to confirm its always an illegal instruction at 0x2f00c0.

Happy new year, Raz

That sounds like the prototype rom for MotW. I remember that was plagued with infinite juggles as well.

I found a couple more

multigame 108 in 1 series 1
multigame 16 in 1 series 1
multigame 16 in 1 series 6
multigame 16 in 1 series 7
multigame 18 in 1 series 1

The 138 in 1 I cant really test, since I only have a 2 slot CMVS and it has the jamma daughter board. When both are pulled in, it crashes with the image from the post above. I dont have the ability to select games.

Here some more pics of the 12 in 1.

multigame 12 in 1 series 1 crash2
multigame 12 in 1 series 1 crash3
multigame 12 in 1 series 1 crash4
multigame 12 in 1 series 1 crash5
multigame 12 in 1 series 1 crash6
multigame 12 in 1 series 1 crash7

Different crash every time.

Maybe there is something wrong with the board. The back one of the boards has a cockeyed chip under the hot glue. It doesnt appear to be connected to anything.

I re-tested a few of the other boards and they all gave the illegal instruction at 0x2f00c.

Great so apart from this 12 in 1 and unsure 138 in 1 the error is always at 2f00c0. This is good news.

Can you do a few more shots with any cart that always gives 0x2f00c0 address. Basically when the error comes press 'd' to get into the memory viewer. Then use joystick and buttons 'a' 'b' and 'c' to scroll so address 0x2f0000 is at the top and take a screen shot, scroll down to 0x2f0030 and take another screenshot. Carry on and do the same for addresses 0x2f0060, 0x2f0090 and 0x2f00c0. You only need to do this for one cart. I suspect there is code there and I want to see it to see if the illegal instruction is done on purpose.

Also for the 138 in one error screen you gave, what game is that booting into when the error comes? I will investigate that one a little more.

I made 2 sets of memory pics.

This first one is going into the memory viewer after a crash, everything is 0x61006100.
multigame 108 in 1 series 1 crash 2f0000
multigame 108 in 1 series 1 crash 2f0030
multigame 108 in 1 series 1 crash 2f0060
multigame 108 in 1 series 1 crash 2f0090
multigame 108 in 1 series 1 crash 2f00c0

This 2nd set is from going into the memory viewer (p1 select+start) while the game selection menu is up and not crashed. Its not in the pictures, but values before address 0x2f0000 are all 0xff.
multigame 108 in 1 series 1 game select 2f0000
multigame 108 in 1 series 1 game select 2f0050
multigame 108 in 1 series 1 game select 2f00a0

I cant tell which game is being booted on the 138in1. It crashes while its showing the violence warning before any title screen comes up.

Thanks, its not what I was expecting to see but it helps some. The 2nd set of shots is a list of game ID codes by the looks of it. Can you do one more test with that 108 in 1 cart. Swap from any game to kof 97, and confirm it still gives the 2f00c0 address in the error.

btw, I don't soppose you made the pc-2-neo adapter did you?
