What's the best way to clean the contacts on a Neo cart? I've looked over my copy of Real Bout Fatal Fury and compared it to other games in my collection and I've noticed that it's fairly dirty and may have minor rust. Any advice would be appreciated.

Good way to clean contacts of carts is with a hard eraser, i use that method all the time. You will be surprised how much dirt comes off the contacts

It seems all the answers are for MVS, where you can take apart a cart and clean it. How about a homecart, becasue an eraser will not fit. And I have tried that rubbing alcohol, and my contacts are still dirty.

Even though I know how to open them, I do not want to open them. Maybe for conversions, but not for cleaning contacts. This will ruin the cart sticker.

If you know what you're doing then you dont have to remove or damage the cartsticker.

Just go to funco land or any other game store and buy a Genesis cleaning kit. Works wonders in both slots and contacts.

BTW, I am talking about a home cart, not MVS.

Spike, so the Genesis cleaner will work for Neo carts? Thanks for the tip.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Moderators, PLEASE put up a page detailing this. GOD KNOWS how many times this question has been answered!!!!! READ OLD POSTS GUYS!!!!!

OK, first DO NOT use pencil erasers if you care for your carts or machines. Apart from shavings making things worse, it leaves a layer of rubber on the contacts i.e. they are still dirty.

I have always used and always will use contact cleaner. Those who bother to read this section on a regular basis will know I do! Its available from radio shack, mcm electronics, maplin, rs... go look! Aerosol can, NON-LUBRICATING type (NOT pot cleaner). Its basically isopropyl alcohol. Use it with cotton buds.

And guys, its NOT just for MVS. You don't need to open them. The contacts are those gold bits sticking out in the hole in the bottom. Aim the nozzle, squirt, and run the cotton bud along the contacts. No opening, works for AES.

And for all US residents... q-tips is a brand name. Its a bit of cotton wool on a stick. Doesn't matter about the brand!

No probs endtime. If you dig deep into the archives of the tech section, you'll find similar discussions in which we mentioned specific products
