Alright. These events have been in planning limbo for a few months now, so I figure it's best to finally let people know about them in the gathering forum.
On February 5-7, I'm hauling a few of my MVS cabs to TempleCon 2010, which is an annual multi-genre gaming convention now being held at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick, Rhode Island. If you haven't heard of it, it's a pretty good time, and a little different from other gaming cons because it tends to have a noticeably less weird uber-dork factor by intentional design of the organizers. It has been running for five years now, draws a good number of people, and generally has a lot of both gaming and non-gaming stuff going on 24 hours a day for three days; from tournaments to scotch tasting seminars.
Anyway, onto the part that matters. I'm organizing a pair of casual Neo tournaments at the con, which I'm referring to as Anthology Tournaments. In short, they are two separate standard structure events utilizing the entire collection of games from both original Samurai Shodown and KOF series, in that the players have some degree of control over which games they play during each match. For more detailed rules, which are still being hammered out, hit this link:

No, this is not intended to be a serious pro-level tournament. We all know that there are games in both the classic SS and KOF stable that are less than perfect for tourney play. What this is intended to be an excuse for local Neo fans to get hammered and screw around with a fun tournament format in a swanky venue, talk some shit, and maybe go home with some prizes provided by SNKP Japan and a few other sponsors.
Yes, since it is a fairly large event overall, SNKP was cool enough to sign on as a prize sponsor and promise us some stuff to give away. Check out the prizes in the posts below, as SNK was very kind when it came to sending us some cool stuff. There isn't any additional entry fee outside of the normal convention badge, which isn't expensive.
So that's it. If anyone has any input or questions about event structure, let me know. All in all, this is pretty much a fun excuse to get a large NG public gathering together at a rather cool event in New England.
Maybe I'll finally get a chance to meet some of the Mass crew in person if you guys can make it down for this.
