CPSII A-Boards...How to open?

OK, I've got 4 CPSII games, 3 of which I've been able to take apart, clean out, replace batteries, etc. One that I just got, the A board still had the Capcom seal over the (?)Barrel Bolt(?) that holds the two halves together.

One of the other boards had been ripped apart, and that barrel bolt broke off chunks of plastic inside the cover.

Anyone got any tips for opening an A board WITHOUT breaking plastic?
Any help much appreciated!

P.S.- I thought it would be obvious, but JUST IN CASE...I'm NOT talking about the 4 screws. Those are easy...

Is it a nut and bolt or one of those "C" bolts? If it is a "C" bolt you just pry the bottom off with a tiny screwdriver. It doesn't screw. Sometimes they replace them with a regular nut and bolt.

Who da man? YOU da man!

Thanks, brutha! ...I'm just a little gunshy of trying to force something I know nothing about and possibly destroying something. Cheers!

I don't even remove that bolt, I just spread the shells open and pull the board out.

I gotta check my CPS2 batteries soon, too.

How long do you go without changing them? So far it's been 2 years but I don't know if I want to wait any longer on them.

Timebombs! Some are original as far as I know. Need to do this tomorrow.

Truth is people say 4-5 years, I say it's more like 10, but that's pushing it.

Hmm, I'll just open them and check to see the dropoff in voltage.

It sucks though the website I used to get the batteries from only ship vis fedex now so it costs $20 more to ship now. Before they would ship via USPS Priority and I could get about 12 of them shipped for $5 which is an awesome shipping discount.

If I recall there is no voltage drop until they are dead. They will read a constant range of 3.3 to 3.6 until they die.

You can no longer ship batteries via air. They have to be shipped ground. Its the law now. Part of the patriot act I think.

You can ship batteries via air but I think if they are Lithium they need to be sent ground.

That sounds about right now that you mention it.
