Does anyone know how to access the cross hatch screen on a Sony Wega Trinitron CRT? I need to fix the screen geometry and have no idea how to do this. I screwed around with the menu options with no luck.

I run my SG and all my pcb stuff off this tv. So if I turn on my SG without a pcb attached to the jamma connector the cross hatch come on? I think I've done this and had no luck. I will try again

Werejag meant with an MVS system. AFAIK, the overwhelming majority of TVs do not have test patterns built into them.

Thats what I thought. So I guess their is no way to fix my screen on my crt. Its not that bad but the top part of the screen needs to be shrunk down a bit.

It not having an internal cross hatch doesn't mean you cannot fix the geometry. Search for how to get into service mode on your particular model and read what the settings do. IIRC, there is something like VSIZ that will adjust the vertical size. Be careful about changing settings you're unsure about as you can hose your TV.

If you do some looking, you could probably download a DVD with geometry test patterns on it.

Here is the service mode for Sony Wegas. The name of the settings may have different names. The ones you will mess with the most are VSIZ, HSIZ, HPOS, SCRL. With VPOS (vertical position) it is actually better to use SCRL usually.

I actually suggest not saving the settings after adjusting them. That way you turn off the TV and the settings are as you adjusted them until you unplug the TV. That way if you mess something up, just unplug the TV and try again.

Different systems have different video positions. So you might find yourself adjusting things once in a while. You are never gonna get perfect geometry on a CRT like you will get on LCD screens. Just do the best you can.

Was able to get into the service menu and adjust the geometry the best I could. However, now I've run into a different problem. For some reason, when I turn my tv set off it is automatically turning back on after about 20 minutes. Does anyone know why this is happenning or how to fix it. It never has happened before until I changed my settings in the service menu.
