Jap 5V AES consoles: Power question?

Hi,

I'd like some advice on how these could be powered in the UK.

We work at 240V in the UK, but the Japanese consoles run on 110V. I could source a Jap power supply at 110V and then use a stepdown, but if I source a 5V power supply at 3 amps in the UK at 240V, will this run the console OK, or am I likely to fry the board?

Essentially what I am asking is do the 5V AES boards run on 100V-240V supplies?

Thanks in advance

Cheers, Lee

As long as the output is +5v you will be fine. The 110 and 240v rating is for the AC into the PSU. Since you are in the UL you would want a 240v +5v@3A PSU.

Most of the newer PSUs work with 100v-240v.

Hi Xian Xi,

Thanks for that, just what I needed.

Do you know what the diameter of the power connector is for the AES socket?

Correct. Plus some of the newer PSU tips can do both 2.1 and 2.5mm.
