PS1 and PS2 laser replacements.

All I can find is Hong Kong sites that charge higher shipping. Looking for best replacements and reasonable price.

I am replacing the lens on my PS1 SCPH-5501 (Cd drive at 9 o'clock position).

-Seems Policenauts English patched CD-Rs wore my modded PS1 lens out. Now all games have occasional skipping FMV.

The PS2 is SCPH-30001. I also need a ribbon cable for the drive.

-My friend gave me this system and it would be nice to have a backup PS2 that I can mod.

For the PS1, is it the KSM-440AEM or is it the ADM that I need? I mostly can just find HK sellers or US sites that charge 2x the amount.

I actually picked up an AEM 440 drive from a HK seller. Funny thing is, it is a louder than my original drive, so I swapped it back out for my semi broken one as it is quieter. If you are interested, I'll pass it on to you for what I paid ($12 shipped).

Thanks. Right now, I am tinkering a little bit to get it to run better. I think if I play enough original games and boost the signal a little it will re-adjust. I will let you know about it soon, if I want to get it or not.

Is the drive a little different looking than the one you have? As if it were made from another factory? Just wondering since it sounds louder.

Yes, it does indeed look slightly different. I'm not sure why exaxctly, but MFG date is like 2008. ???
